Bicycle Thefts
Yet another report in of a bicycle theft from a Portobello garage. Four bikes taken in one go. There does seem to be a spat of these occurring at the mo. Given the apparent knowledge of where the bikes are and that often it is more than one being stolen it looks like this is organised theft and not ...

Ideal for handball which suffers from a lack of large enough halls, virtually none! There is sports money sloshing about to get better centres.

Re: Visit Portobello (and let your dog shit everywhere)
Having run along the prom early mornings I can say that it is often too dark for owners to see if and where their dogs are doing their business. Dogs running free on the beach are often shitting and the owners are unaware. Even the most conscientious owner will not be able to guarantee that their do...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
Geoff -Re consultation. Is the website you mention the official place for parents to put in their comments? If so who wrote the pros and cons? There appear to be a lot of assumptions being made. Were these timescales etc taken directly from the council officials or are PFANS making it up to suit th...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
Do anyone else think it odd that PPAG is banging on about how the Council should not be spending our money to check the legal postion of the land as common good but are happy to push for a school to be built on a site which is likely to cost hundreds of thousands, probably millions. The cost of desi...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
Betty, again you said lies, again what lies? You and your Pal were the only people against, everybody, yes everybody, voted in favour. That seems pretty convincing about the direction that the Parents Council wants to travel. (Probably reflective of the school body). That direction was to pursue the...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
I have just read the small print on the recent PFANS leaflet and was very surprised to read that these were issued on behalf of the PHS parent council. I have attended the last two parent council meetings and at no time was there any mention of their involvement in this propaganda exercise. Indeed ...

Cut to the chase Kesia. Private members bill, 6 -9 mths if big Kenny shows his metal and gets the G'ment on board. 2 years to build, new school in under 3 years. Can't see anything quicker. Closest would be be a rebuild on site, plans needed, new place for St John needed, minimum 6 - 8 years if you ...

Or they may decide to stop throwing good money after bad and admit defeat. Then we can all get on with looking for alternatives that do not involve stealing green space. Its not stealing Betty, the Council already owns the green space, that what £25,000 was spent on. If your issue is the total area...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
I know Lady P made that rather careless throwaway remark about it not being self evident that a school advances wellbeing but that wasn't the core of her judgement on the 2003 Act which was that the Act may give Councils very wide powers but it doesn't go so far as to allow them to override normal ...

No idea where the Commander gets all the 'majority' stuff about people being against changes to the law, that's just made up. There are no figures to support that claim. Furthermore laws are always being changed, that's part of the role of Parliament. Every year it sets a legislative programme and s...

Have to say I agree its all a wind up, and does relate to the PPAG plan to distract from the issue.
