Fund raising ceilidh for Water Aid
Bella McNab's Band (the ceilidh band with strong Porty connections) is running a fund-raising ceilidh on October 18, at St James's Hall in Rosefield Place, for the charity Water Aid. The ceilidh is part of The Big National Ceilidh, which will be running simultaneously in cities, towns and villages t...
Was up at the Hoys (Chris's uncle and aunt) in Brunstane Road this morning. Scenes of bedlam among the assembled company when he won that second race - corks popping, Evening News were there (again) taking pics, tears and hollers, bairns jumping up and down. Hard to over-estimate the scale of Hoy's ...

Anyone lost a kid's bike?

Silver mountain bike with black lettering on frame? (Don't have time to get on this site much these days, hence the less than up to the minute reaction...

I've just finished Bill Bryson's 'A short history of nearly everything', which kept me gripped more than many a novel I've read. Bryson is superb. Current read is a bit more specialist, a book called 'Between the jigs and the reels', by Caomhin MacAoidh, which is about fiddlers and fiddle playing in...

To be fair, I think most supermarkets have dropped that old ruse. (Mind you I fall for it every time I'm in Kost Konscious - the number of Raspberry Ruffle Bars I've bought on impulse...wily old mayor that he is.) The pluses for Scotmid, apart from its attractiveness to connoisseurs of eccentric sho...
Sea Beach down on the prom is great - a little bit cramped maybe, but the staff are brilliant, and the atmosphere is very warm and secure. Being right on the beach, they like to get the bairns out as much as possible. Depending on the age of your wee yin, I would also put in a word for the Toddler H...
