M'lord... i request that the jury take into consideration the number of posts by the complainant...a mere 32. The need to maintain a harmonious family home, care of children (albeit partime) and hold down a job with the bleeding councel. Obviously these must take precedence although she is clearly c...

Geez this is NOT good. we've been told the same about dealing with yobbish behaviour bu the police (Tony Blair in a hoody???...never) ie. please report it, report it and keep on reporting it. But, it's rather hard to believe that when acting in isolation. Can we do anything else...ie write, campaign...

Ok...so what was the name of the character who said this in "Are You Being Served?" When I was lying awake at 3 this morning I sadly had nothing else to occupy my mind and it's annoying me. One of those...on the tip of me tongue things.
Hopeful for a restful night...

Cool! Thanks! Been an interesting one. I've been taking care of the 'invalid' one plus off spring, plus fielding a phone call from my mother wishing me happy birthday for the first time in 3 years. Definitely need that emoticion with the pint glasses chinking. In fact the real thing would be even be...

Gala Bingo
Moan coming up.... I live near the beloved Gala Bingo, along with the rest of Bath Street, and we are regulary disturbed by youngsters using the nice private side lane which is out of sight and so very attractive for drinking etc. Yesterday some older teenagers were climbing on the bingo roof chasin...

Yup…feel sorry for any dog left for ages anywhere…whether it be at home, in the car, garden or outside a shop/pub. However, and in my defence, our dog is sometimes one outside a pub. Usually the Dalriada or Pier, but this is only after the lively cross collie that he is has been the full...

You see...this is exactly why asking you guys is such a good idea!! I think it's a great idea in principle. I don't think the guy is planning on have a trough or anything outside the Pier. Prob just space for one or two dogs like ootside Scotmid. I doubt he'll get permission from environmental healt...

Question for Dog Owners
Greetings all I was out with our dog on the beach yesterday when I meet the chef of the Old Pier. While chatting he asked me what I thought of this idea. He's a dog lover himself (but can't have one of his own) and he is thinking about serving "real" dog food, basically, a kind of stew for dogs just...

Tsunami Aid
Does anyone know of any locally organised relief aid going to the disaster affected areas in terms of clothing etc? We have given a monetary donation but also have clothing (esp children's) and sheets which could be sent. We had a clear out this week. Normally some would go to the local charity shop...

Oh dear. This is not a pleasant way for any of those involved in this to spend a Saturday. There have been positive comments about the BBC and negative ones. Which are the greater I'm not sure as I don't think it's important for me to count. Two ways a business can measure its success are by custome...

The lovely Christian Slater
Was walking across from the Playhouse last Thursday when my youngest son (just three) fell his full length. At same time as I went to help him up a taxi pulled out and a guy on a mob phone stepped out, bent down, picked my son up, checked he was OK and carried on chatting on phone. I expressed my th...

is you cup half full or empty?
Congrats to BeachBabe and Dadaist! Beautiful baby! But...on the subject of lattes... I may be mistaken but...a medium drink usually comes in a medium cup...filled to the top. A large drink usually comes in a large cup...filled to the top. Ergo...no room for confusion. Bit like half pints and full pi...

I've only read a little of what's been written here and whilst being entirely one sided I'd have to say that i rather agreed with BB (Bellybabe). I'm tired of going out into my back garden wondering what I'll find that has been either chucked over (broken bottles etc) or stolen. I'm tired of worryin...

Thanks Kirstie I'll drop you a line when I get a sec. In a way while it is disheartening that there is the need to have to call the police it is good to know that I'm not the only one who does it! So, there are concerns about the difficulties many portobello residents and businesses face due to yobbish behaviour of a minority of mostly youths. I take the points that some have made about each of us having our own responsibility to deal with our own children and to report and try to assist when...

Hi All Got a nice wee reminder form Bob that this forum exists and as I've found it useful and wish to support it I thought I'd do a bit of blethering. Hi I was disgusted when I read your post re the young lad assaulted last Saturday. Thanks for posting the message - although it is very bad news it's important to keep informed. demise of the Community Bobby?
Hmmm...I've heard on the great grape vine that as of April 1st the community police officer no longer exists. Apparently the Chif Constable has decided to reorganise resources but I would like to know what's happening to our local community bobby...those useful offivers who know what's going on in t...
