Re: Dedicated off-road cycle path from Portobello to Leith

But these design changes to my mind are tackling the wrong problems, welcome though they are. The section through the car park at the foot of bath street can be dangerous, and cars can also block the cycle path at the north end. The section past the school on Leith Links is very narrow, and has very...

Re: Dedicated off-road cycle path from Portobello to Leith

@twellys: the council didn't just decide not to use that single-track path behind the railway track. It's on railway land, and is not available for the council to use. I was sceptical about the widened pavement they put in instead, but it works really well.

Spokes/Coonsil Bike Breakfast June 19th

It's the Spokes/Coonsil Bike Breakfast next Wednesday (June 19th)! If you want a (mostly) road-free ride in from Porty, then meet at the corner of Brighton Place/High St at 7am, leave 7:15am. That should give us time for breakfast before work :-)

Re: Brighton Place road repairs

The setts are horrific on a bike, especially when it's wet. They're uneven and slippery, and cars totally race down Brighton Place. I do like the setts, but there really should be a separate path for bikes on Brighton Place.

I normally hate military displays, but watching the jets go over really is stunning. And no, nothing in the flat has wobbled even slightly.

It's the annual Edinburgh Council Bike Breakfast on Wednesday the 20th of June. I've invited our councillors along for a ride into town. Maureen Child replied to say she would meet us up there, and the other two didn't reply. Anyways if any of you want to join me, I'll be taking the scenic route thr...

Re: Edinburgh Council Election 2012: Portobello/Craigmillar

I guess the main thng with STV is that you get ONE vote (the "single" in STV). And the question that you then get asked isL "Who do you want to win. OK, if you can't have them, who do you want? And if you can't have THEM, who do you want" etc etc. The one spanner in the works is the quota thing, whe...

In a nut shell - thanks to Maureen's popularity and the way the STV works we've ended up with two decent folk and a crook? I don't Think it's the way STV works, but the way people voted. There were some 900 voters who expressed no preference between Peter McColl and Walker. Having said that, Walker...

And it's worth remembering, we are going to elect three councillors, and, if you want, you can have a say on all three. If you only list one Labour councillor on your form, you are choosing to have no say on the other two councillors.

If I'm right, if you dont like a candidate you shouldn't put a number next to them at all as if you put even a 6 or 7 that could be counted , eventually, as a vote for them. You don't have to number ALL the candidates, only those you like, then rate those ones in order of preference. But you DO wan...

With regard to only using one of your votes, do you *really* have no preference between the other candidates? And if you don't want David Walker, surely you should put all the other candidates higher in the list than him.
