The tenements on the right were the first to be built in Joppa.

The Post Office was owned by Mr Flockhart, who printed and sold several postcards of Joppa. To the left is Mr Hill's general store and the Ormelie Bar can also be seen at 44 Joppa Road.

The old Roman bridge across the Niddrie Burn leads to Brunstane House, which originally belonged to the Crichton family.
