Datta

Post by GG » 26 Mar 2004, 21:57

We were really sorry to hear that Datta, our favourite Indian take-away, has had to close down this week. The owner of the take-away, Hasif told my husband that Tuesday was the last night they would be open. We were really sorry to hear that the lady cook has suffered a recent and unexpected illness and is unable to cook any longer. Also Hasif's nephew has decidd to go back to Pakistan. Hasif is currently looking for another cook or for some-one to let the take-away but for now has had to close.
The food at Datta was excellent and we were always made to feel welcome. We will miss it and the peole very much.

GG,
That's such a shame. We wondered how long it might be closed after spotting the sign and whitened windows earlier in the week.
We have enjoyed some really nice food from there over the last few months and as you say, the owner and his staff were so very nice and courteous.
I loved the way they would come around the counter and open the door for you as you left.
I hope things work out sooner rather than later for Hasif. I'm going to miss my mixed pakora!

Just heard from one of our neighbours that the rumour going around is that Datta closed due to some-one getting food poisoning from their food. We know for a fact this is not the case and the above reasons are true. It just goes to show how quickly unfair and untrue rumours are spread.

There has been activity in the previous Datta take-away over recent weeks. I've seen the guy from the now closed Pizza Paradise in there. Does anyone know what the plans are? Looks like another take-away or restaurant.

I spoke to the new owners a week or so ago. It's going to be a sit-down restaurant and takeaway. Can't remember how they described the food but it sounded quite interesting, and they had plans to open soon.
