As the great Australian cartoonist Leunig wrote, shopping trolleys emerge from the sea under the full moon and make their way to supermarket carparks to spawn. Then, spent, they wander off and end up in alleyways, lanes, parks and so on where they breathe their last, although having ensured the continuance of the species.
Tuesday is the full moon so it must have been an early eager arrival.

Sad fact: My first thought on seeing the posters sellotaped on Marks window this morning (the one next to the pet shop that keeps claiming it will reopen as a Thai takeaway) was "Bob will approve". Of course, the flyers were sellotaped on top of anti-war posters that had been glued to the window, so I didn't quite see the point of the sellotape.

Hmm, you know that feeling when you're not quite sure whether you've just been complimented or insulted?
Flyposting is a subject that came up at Monday's Community Council meeting, as you will see when the minutes are published. You will also note that I was not present. I still think a tolerance zone might be the answer, but we would need some encouragement from the flyposters themselves to make this happen. Most people I talk to seem to think that the flyposters would make use of the tolerance zone, but continue to flypost illegally.
We certainly don't need another takeaway, but on the other hand I am partial to Thai food.

I think a tolerance zone for flyposters is a good idea because we wouldn't be exploited by pimps so much. We would be able to be around other flyposters and swap tips on paste, and I'm sure attacks on flyposters would decrease.
There could be a flyposters drop in centre where we could get our hands checked - checking for residue of paste under fingernails and papercuts - and workers would be able to give us advice on safe flyposting, lookout techniques etc.
Yes, a good idea.
