......it's a girl!

Emily was born at 11:52 pm last night and weighs 6lb 3 1/2 oz

Mother and baby are fine and asleep - father is a bit tired and emotional!

Congratulations. The forum's first baby! And a splendid choice of name - ours is three and a half.

Yay! Fantastic news! And well done to all three of you (I used to be very sexist and think the one giving birth did all the work, but having been a birth partner for a 52-hour labour, I'm now much more understanding of the co-stars!).
Emily's gorgeous - I love the way she's smiling and waving at us. Before we know it she'll be here, berating Bob, doctoring pics and generally causing uproar like daddy!

Congratulations.
May your sleepless nights be very short-lived and your joy very long-lived!

.....who's the daddy?

Aww thankyou - Mrs Surrealist will be reading these nice comments as we are all home now - mother and baby were discharged yesterday.

Father was kicked out of the hospital as well - they said that he was suffering from a severe case of New Dad Syndrome and there was nothing they could do - all the while he kept blubbering something about how wonderful they all were, midwives, paeds team, the nice WRVS ladies etc etc.

Here is another pic of baby :

On the instructions of our Tomy "Sound Around" baby monitor was information that, in certain circumstances, "the Parent Unit might emit a high-pitched whine" - neither of us have yet, but there's plenty of time for that....
