In Praise of the New RIE

I had an operation yesterday at the New RIE - all very traumatic and extremely painful. However, I thought I should mention this as I am so hugely impressed by the staff - from the reception on arrival, admission nurse, Surgeon, anaethetist, theatre nurse and recovery ward nurses. (Excuse any spelling probs - had a lot of meds and still a bit dopey). Anyway, what a difference good bed-side manners make to the overall experience. The staff were very attentative and I really felt like I was being taken seriously. They even let Mr DG in to the recovery area as I was kept in longer than anticipated and wanted to see him - they insisted he wore blue surgical gear though (he looked quite cute in it I must say

). A big thank you to al who looked after me and reassurance to anyone due for a visit to the RIE - they were great! I'll take some choccies up to them once I can walk any length of time.

Well that took forever to write so I'm back off to bed now.

Reassuring to hear your experience was made easier by the service and attention you received at RIE.
Pop certainly is full of praise for them too.

Take it easy DG and do everything the doctor tells you. Did you write to us from your bed in the RIE? I was dead impressed by the hi-tec, bedside facilities on offer until I saw the cost

Make sure you're recovered by the 12th.......

Mimpty, that is too cruel. DG has already said she is having trouble with spelling.

Glad to hear that you are ok DG and the praise for the RIE. Ive spent lots of time in both the new and the old RIE's visiting PoP and as Ive said before, the service, care and attention is wonderful.

Glad to hear you're on the mend. At least you'll get a bit of peace with the Figgate Whins being shut

I'm full of praise for the RIE staff too, they were great when COC was in with pneumonia. And aren't Doctors getting younger

My friend's daughter is a doctor at the RIE. She's 27 and about 5'0" when wet and looks like she should be doing her Highers.

Fortunately, she's a great doctor.

Thanks for all your best wishes. I meant also to mention that the place was immaculate. Thought this was worth a mention when hospital hygiene is getting such bad press in some areas at the moment.

I'm going out of the house for the first time since the op today - looking forward to it

I don't make a patient patient I'm afraid. Getting awfully fed up and frustrated. I will be there on Saturday though
