Last night Mrs Surrealist and I had kippers & trout from the fishmonger with some new baby spuds and broccoli.

What did you have?

Junk food. I am the only person who cooks real food in the house and since i can barely hobble about, other half had to do it. I relented today and hobbled round Scotmid because I've missed the sight and taste of vegetables soooo much, and would have done anything for some broccoli! Am v. jealous of your healthy meal.

Mushroom soup, using the stock from the (Findlays) chicken we had at the weekend. Mostly organic ingredients and with a handful of wild mushrooms added for extra flavour. Followed by fresh fruit salad - apples, melon, strawberries and cherries - yum! And tonight - Mrs Bob prepared an excellent chilli con carne. The smoked chipotle chillies are the secret - they give it a really well-rounded flavour.

Love fish too. The fishmonger has had fillets of halibut recently, delicious coated in seasoned flour and fried in butter. On Saturday I bought a wonderfully fresh dressed crab for lunch.

Did I mention I was a foodie?

Ah - I had only heard of those chillies once before when an american friend made us corn chowder with them - I swear it was the nicest soup I've ever had ever, ever.

Wild mushrooms? Be careful, please!!

On the night in question, I worked late so met Mrs Alex at Bar Napoli on the way home, for spaghetti carbonara.
