Sunday music at Dalriada

Post by Gedge » 18 Jul 2005, 09:34

Well done the manager for putting on the music in the garden of the Dalriada last night. The music was perfect for the occasion, it was a lovely atmosphere and made me proud and happy to live in Portobello. Hopefully there are plans to make it a regular event during the summer.

I agree with you completely. It was my friend's band so we are fans anyway but the setting outside beside the sea was perfect and it was warm enough to enjoy the occasion without shivering which is a pretty unusual occurrence in Porty - until this summer. If I'd only know you were there, I could have spladooshed you.

Maybe they'll give Zargonian a gig and he can fulfil his rock god dream/fantasy.

Maybe we should start a POL combo.

Can I play the fool ? :)

Dalriada is high up in my book at the moment as we got great service when we visited and the beer garden out the back was lovely.

There was a funky sounding combo out playing in the Dalriada garden this evening. Covers of KC and the Sunshine Band, Stevie Wonder etc.

Was it the same outfit that Gedge and DC were talking about earlier in this thread, I wonder?
If so, I agree, they're really good.

Different bunch entirely. Last night was far more upbeat. I fine duo were paying last week - lots of Dylan, Tom Waits, Neil Young and some of their own songs. I believe they might have been booked for a regular slot.

Sunday's beat combo were called Soul Inferno. Billed as 'jazz' in error

Mr Poppy and I left after the first half to get our tea, but enjoyed what we heard. The singeress had a good rapport with the audience too.

Yeah, I didn't catch that much of them either but I thought they were very good.
I definitely like the sound of the duo Gedge talks about and will look out for them.

Did you have your tea on the prom, Poppy? I noticed there was some sort of al fresco shindig going on outside your abode. They were up dancing to YMCA as I passed - no sign of you but thought you might be under the table hiding from me.

Nothing to do with me - have more consideration for neighbours! And would rather not have such an event in full view of the promenaders!!

We had to endure the clanging of metal tubes for several hours from 8.30 on Sunday morning while the gazebos were erected. With the added fun of the hover bover boys making a racket like low flying helicopters and causing a threat to the swimmers and folk on the beach!!!

Was mighty relieved to see the hovers on a trailer heading out of town as we came back from the peace of Dalkeith Country Park!!
