Scottish TV personas

Does anyone else squirm a litlle when the see an ornery scots person getting interviewd about something, on TV? The accent sounds so twee and the English is barely grasped.

This even affects me with our TV personalities but for different reasons. I watced Nicky Campbell in his recent "question time" style discussion programme and I was continually reminded of Kilroy Silk.

The guy with the really drony Glaswegian accent must be the worst. It really is cringeworthy listening to him. Not as bad as the ordinary 'man in the street' that they always interview when there's been a tragedy. They obviously look for the most glaiket one they can find.

He really is dreadful and so over-dramatic.

Most Scottish accents on TV are awful! The higher pitched and whinier, the worse they are. River City is my idea of tv hell (for more reasons than one!). But lets not stop at tv, I can't bear to listen to Radio forth for the same reasons. Just hope I don't sound like that.........

Heather is the daughter of my old PE teacher Pete Reid who shocked the school by dating (and subsequently marrying) a sixth year pupil...presumably hence Heather

She is awful though and so wooden

Unfortunatley that is what we would all sound like if we were interviewed on TV (myself excluded of course

)...only saving grace is that our accent seems to be the most favoured by the other UK countries, hence the number of call centres in Scotland
