I have decided, enough is enough and have enlisted the help of a personal trainer - my goal is to lose 3st by Christmas.
Had my first session on Friday - I have to get down to 21 units of alcohol initially and then cut down even more.
I had to keep a food/drink diary for the week and I was topping 40+ units a week
Having my last "normal" sized glass of wine this evening.

You'll be skin and bone by the end!
It can be hard to keep motivated, though. Fortunately I'm still quite keen about going to the gym. I quite like it, which has surprised me.
Perhaps if you changed your gym to Portobello? You wouldn't have so far to go after a workout!

Mimpty
I wish...
I tend to find if I can get the gym over with at lunchtime it works best for me.
Meant to say you are looking brilliant - glad you are enjoying going to the gym!

Probably not the best time of year to resurrect this post

Just to let you know as of 2nd Jan I am on diet/fitness extravaganza - aim to lose weight and tone up to get into a bikini for August.

Hope other POLers are in the same boat and we can help each other along. :D

I want the flat tum of my avatar :D

I'm swimming a bit more these days and am thinking about trying the gym again for the first time since my sciatica trouble.

I am also tentatively considering giving up the fags before the ban comes into force. I was rather impressed with myself for not nipping out for a puff between courses at the Pol curry night.

It's so hard though. I love my fags and my booze and my food.

Are you still at your swanky private gym, S? Get the staff to bully and shout at you a bit more. That might work?

=D> giving up the ciggies would be brill New Year Resolution - all the more to spend on wine!! :D I'm the same, love booze and food.

Yes still at gym though nearly was banned on Friday  - was there with my PT and gym PT there also - he took a strop and I was severely reprimanded for bringing my own PT into gym :o

I'd like a PT but fear I cannot afford one.

But, if I were to have one, Sandra, I'd choose a nice, fit young man to dominate me and not some glam woman like wot you've got.

Very affordable and motivating - £20 for an hour. First 3 sessions for £55, Tracy can come and visit you at home.

I'd expect her not only to motivate but to hoover, dust and make my tea on top for that price.

tell me what it is she does in detail and I'll do it for a tenner
