Bands Available

Post by Dave Connelly » 20 May 2006, 13:42

There have been a few questions about available bands for hire.

How about a section for this. I would heartily recommend Marty Waugh,

<a href="http://www.martinwaugh.com/">Marty Waugh</a>

who is a Porty Man with a great voice.

also

<a href="http://www.dtoxmusic.co.uk/">Dtox The Band</a>

Who are a great pub band, lots of cover versions and dancy stuff, good for weddings etc.

Any other Local bands :?:

(sorry posted on wrong thread, please move)

Was at a party some months ago and this fellow, Cal, was playing the whole evening. He plays solo, with music to suit all tastes, so great for weddings, parties, whatever! We even bought a few of his C.D.'s.

Mods

Why has my announcement of the RFP DJ set which addresses the schools proposal been deleted, but this musical thread has been allowed to stay?

Are you saying that the turntable isn't a real instrument?

Is it OK to post about music on "Portobello Matters" as long as it's live - but not if it's pre-recorded?

Are you oppressing me?

I figured as much. Sorry if I caused you any bother.

Marya, you're a missed presence from the RFP schedule as your mixes were really nice.

Would you like to be the first to submit a musical response to DJ Teddy Girl?

Talk about being damned with faint praise!

I have recently 'come into possession of' CDs containing in the region of 9000 tracks, covering a huge library of music including all the top 10 singles since the charts started in 1952 , but I still think I'd be pushed to find many songs extolling the virtues of a good school education! :(

Eh c'mon, you're one of the original lineup. I wouldn't put the knife in - your sets were a great mix right at the time when we had a lot of eclectic stuff and needed just what you provided.

I'm sure there must be stuff, other than Bob The Builder and the JCB song, which the pro-plan posse can use.

New Labour's anthem for starters - "Things Can Only Get Better".

Or "The Kids Are All Right"

Or "If The Kids Are United" (ie a call against a split campus)

Also "Camp Grenada" as a cry against decanting.

I'll put in a plug for the band I play in, the Groovediggaz. We're a 7 piece soul/funk band. We've not been so busy since the demise of Henry's Jazz Cellar, but still play now and again.

Also play in a band. Been getting a good response lately.

I've set up a website with links to some demo songs we recorded a while back.
