Well Done Portobello High School!!

Post by PortyMan » 25 Jun 2006, 15:04

Hi... I had hoped someone 'official' would do this (and my apologies if they have done so and I missed it! ).

.:0.: Just to say that Portobello High School senior football team (5th/6th years) 'did the double' of winning both the Lothian Schools League and Cup!! .:0.:

Not sure if that was a first, but it's certainly not happened for a while.

And given the criticism that Portobello youth seem to be getting at the moment, it's good to see what some can achieve through hard work, dedication and determination (and a little help from their teachers/coaches :) ).

Well done lads... Here's to next season!!

I always think of PHS as a more 'rugby focused' school, which makes the footballers' success all the more remarkable.

Well done lads! :wav:

I think this is a brilliant achievement. Don't think the football team have won anything since about '93? So to win two trophies in one season is tremendous. Well done. :D

Marya, PHS was lost to rugby for many years after the teacher strikes. Its on its way back again. Thanks to a number of teachers and staff. I hear possible staff timetable changes to a Friday afternoon may be threatening both Football and Rugby teams and I guess others too.

Eventually got around to reading the FAQ and doing the Photobucket thing... So here's the picture of the boys concerned!

Well, never thought I'd say this but there was more talent of the "ooh I fancy him variety" in the rugby 7 team of 1973 (or 4  - Plug can't remember which).

But then I'm getting old and should probably not be thinking of teenagers in that light   !

Congrats once again, though.

If Portyman would kindly send the photo of the team to the 'Reporter', we will use it, with his permission and accreditation, in the September issue.
