Damn! I was going to guess that it was

"The http://www.porty.org.uk/forum_links/mussels.jpg Restaurant".

I haven't been in Saughton Park for years. It had lovely rose gardens back in the 70s.

I should really venture to west Edinburgh from time to time but I get as far as Slateford Road and then I'm lost and then I panic til I get far enough back east.

Ho hum.

Try walking there from Leith up the river and then back down - you'll know which way you are going round the bend by looking to see which way the water's going. Dear  .

What a clever idea. Gie's a chum though in case I get jumped once we get far enough west.
It's wild there and as you know, I'm a big, crapping Jessie.

To keep on topic, I'd like to say that the sand in Wangi's b/w pic looks like the surface of the moon and is a lovely shot.

Saughton Park is still well-maintained and the rose gardens are just as you remember them ecm. One of Edinburgh's best kept secrets.

And the mussels were served up at the Mussel and Steak bar at the foot of West Bow where it meets the Grassmarket. Worth a visit.

We also fitted in Gorgie City Farm (very run down nowadays) and the new playpark in the Meadows, which is fantastic for kids of all ages.

ooooh I like the black ones in the middle!

I used to wear doc shoes (boys variety) and they hurt like hell wearing them in.

The easiest to break in were the animal print ones as they were very soft.

The white ones on the left are a re issue of my very 1st pair
I got them way back in the 90's, put them on and took the dog for a walk. Oooh I suffered for that mistake
But once broken in they're SO comfy

Now if they'd only reissue the tartan ones, and the moon and star ones I had before a certain Clanger "borrowed " them
