Suzanne - Leonard Cohen
I overcame my laziness and did a quick browse through this thread for this - and could not see it. And the frightening thing is that if I'm the first to mention this then it's time to subscribe to SAGA Magazine.
And where does that leave El Presidente???
And here's another from Mr Cheerfull of Canada l: So Long, Marianne!!

Robin Hood - Dick James
Ramona - The Bachelors
Paddy McGinty's Goat - Val Doonican
Nelly the Elephant - Mandy Miller
Jake the Peg - Rolf Harris
Clearly into the dankest corners of the subconscious now, so better mention The Ballad of Hollis Brown, Joey, Sarah, and Isis (Bob Dylan), Matty Groves (Fairport Convention), John the Gun (Sandy Denny) and Have you met Miss Jones (?Rodgers and Hart)

Has anyone mentioned 'Daisy, Daisy, Give me Your Answer Do' ?
I can't quite grasp the rules!!!!

Do you have to know who sang it? Does there have to be a word or letter association with the previous one? Do they have to be within living memory?

back to the juke box though...

Porty, are you going to draw some kind of conclusion from all this sweeping up of the dusty, flaky bits of the Portobello online community's memory banks?

Actually, didn't Bernard Cribbins sing a song about digging holes in the road that was called "Right, said fred"?

Thanks ecm and Poppy! That was the song I was thinking of - I can still hear it in my head! You're obviously too young to remember it, Porty.
When we run out of names of people, we should try songs with place names in the title - it's a bit harder

You're lucky to have such a "nice and normal" song.
My name's Erika and the only song I know of called "Erika" is a stirring Third Reich marching song!?!?
You can kinda tap your toe to it though.

Actually I made stawberry McGlinchey up but I used the following true story as a basis.
I was in the Deli one day and got chatting to a local mum who used to work in Blood Transfusion. She once got a blood sample from Glasgow and the name was Pocahontas McGlinchey. I kid you not. If the mum happens to be reading this I would love to have it confirmed.
