Hi folks,

My wee sister, Claire who is ten was admitted to Yorkhill hospital on 13 April for open heart surgery, the surgeons patched up 7 holes and repaired her mitral valve. Unfortunately she took a turn for the worse and a second op was required to replace the mitral valve with a metal one and they also found more holes to patch up. (turned out to be a blessing in disguise). Claire came home yesterday after 7 weeks in Yorkhill.

The surgeons, nurses and other staff were amazing during Claire's stay and made it pleasent as possible and I have decided to do a sponsored walk to the summit of Ben Nevis with 4 colleagues to raise funds for the Yorkhill Children's Foundation on 8 August 2009. If weather permits 2 of us will ascend via the CMD arete.

Robin! What a worry for you all, but glad all seems OK now. Remind us about this nearer the time as I for one am a bit "overdrawn" on the sponsorship front this month!!

It was a worry, we thought we had lost her at one point. Today she has been out all day playing with friends and visiting family. You would have never guessed she was just out of hospital.

I'll bump it up nearer the time, as it's 2 months away.
