Do you have any listener stats for us? For example, am I the only person listening to the Stooges right now? Can we incorporate this info on the site?

Marya, listening to your C&W stuff, I am reminded of a friend who as 'Babs' was a backing singer with the Revillos. I accidentaly went to Paris with her for the weekend before she formed (with her husband) a band that delighted under the title 'So You Think You're A Cowboy?'

It's suprisingly easy. What happens is that you arrange to go to Paris with someone else's girlfriend (who you are secretly in love with, except it turns out years later that she read your diary and it wasn't such a big secret) except that there is a mix up at Victoria and instead you end up in Paris with her chaperone - somebody else's wife.

Happens all the time.

Used to go up Strathclyde Uni in the 80s and their last songs at the end of the night were Sally Maclenanne and New York New York (that was if you hadn't had a "do you want to sit down" or a "do you want a drink scenario)"

Saw The Pogues one time at Strathclyde - brilliant set - though every one warned on entry that there had been a bomb scare and one of my friends went "no way am I staying here" several drinks later she was ok

If I see they are playing somewhere I always get nostalgic - same if I hear about Martin Stephenson and the Daintees (like the toffees)

One time in a guy sort of headbutted me and my teeth went through my lip (nice) and I had a bit of a faint and everyone thought I was drunk

Shoutcast server is a bit basic on stats, or at least what I've had time to dig around for thus far. The only info I have had is the page which appears when you click this directly :

"Listener peak" is a nice but rather useless statistic in that even when your maximum concurrent users was just 8, the actual throughput of ears was much bigger - we're a bit like a call centre with 10 phone operators where the average call can vary wildly from seconds to hours.

What I would have liked was a log analysis application while the server was still on my machine so that I could pull stats as detailed as the ones I get for my web server at home.

Hits on my web server (ie page loads on radiofreeporty) since the article was published have been about one per minute.

Until I get my hands on a log file analysis I can't supply the figure of absolute listeners, but we have never exceeded more than 8 concurrently.

I'm having the " cut out" problem when trying to listen to RFP!

Getting about halfway through a song and it stops and starts buffering again!!

I'm listening on " Media Player " so maybe that's the problem!

I'm not a computer whizz, so it could be me!!!

You know the Poppy intro that is being played on RFP ? Well, there's the sound of someone cackling at the end of it.

I heard it being played and thought, "That sounds just like my sister's annoying laugh." Then it dawned on me that it might be ......me

Nice wee discussion there, and how nice that somebody got to read about Porty and feel chuffed. I would log in and give them a lecture about Dadaism but my giraffe is on fire.

When the playlist for his first show went up I scanned over it a bit too quickly and thought one of his selections was going to be the theme song from "White Horses"!

I was actually a bit disappointed that it was a different song.
I loved Julia's adventures with her Lipizzaner horse.

Excellent - our first demo! This set features both the blues band and the jazz trio that Rose Nimmo sings with. She's a friend and neighbour, the first local musician to sign up to the business directory and now the first to be featured on Radio Free Porty.

We have also been promised a demo by a local indie band and I'm sure there is much more to come.

(Dada - Hoochie Cocaine Gal? Are you sure about this?)

the last 2 weeks have seen the dada mask slip slightly, as i fall into a world of spelling mistakes and transcription errors.

the way the handwriting looks on the cd cover, plus the fact that i do not really listen to music with singing in it, plus the fact that the whole RFP experience has led to me being even less aware of the difference between my posterior and my Articulatio Cubiti. but then it was you that spotted when i mis-used an apostrophe, surely the best indicator yet that dada has been a bit tired recently.

Don't worry ecm, for I have just been working on "Neigh Lass - Jackson Priest Does Horses", in which you will hear Jackie's theme tune to the aforementioned White Horses, as well as other cheval-themed tunes, such as Ride My Pony, Crazy Horses, um, Horses, and probably lots of other songs with the word horse in the title in order to stretch this already thin idea even thinner. But I know what you're thinking, and you're right - it will be ideal listening for the Gymkhana crowd, a section of society to whom we must make Radio Free Porty more tempting.
