Then you should be spending your dollars on a trip back home to Porty instead of buying bricks and mortar.

To be bagged or not to be bagged.

Well, I've lived in Porty for a long, long time.

Never been bagged.
That's because I'm partially invisible.

I hardly think me saying "Porty, this is Prombabe" warrants a bagging point for you  Not much skill involved there! I promise I won't make it so easy with Rathbone. He will be in town soon so keep your eyes peeled :D

I would provisionally like to claim to have spotted, although not spladooshed, narkoradko. Dressed very respectively and last seen getting off a 44 at the Lady Nairne this afternoon.

Narko - was that you with the moustache?

Mr Poppy and Mr Lizzie have been known to take a snifter or two in there too (part of noisy rugby crowd which has been known to include at least three other POLers - you know who you are!!) and will be back in there soon after their wee trip to NZ.

Was out walking the dog last weekend and was outside the newsagent in Joppa. There was a guy wearing a POL t-shirt who I smiled at....I was dying to ask who he was! :D

Bearcub has taken to wearing his POL t-shirt out and about.

Or on the floor like I do?

What's the rules for spladooshing and bagging then?

I wouldn't say I frequent the Forresters - I go in now and again to check up on Mr E in the corner with the other reprobates doing the Evening News quiz (that man is SO bad for my image :? ). When I do go in however I usually go in the right hand side door and therefore the right hand side of the bar. So next time you see somebody looking like Angelina Jolie walking in that door............it won't be me :D In fact, Prombabe and I were both in there just last week - a missed opportunity for all!
Spladooshing and bagging is reasonably simple, I'm sure there's a thread on it somewhere!

Spladoosh

Post by Zargonian » 15 Jul 2005, 14:48

Aha, I know the Evening News quiz people......are any of them, guilty of ripping the pages out? There's been some grumbles about that, in a light hearted way of course. Doesn't matter to me like, I just look at the sports page!

Sad that I missed a spladoosh opportunity!
Will be hovvering eyes peeled...!

Spladoosh

Post by Zargonian » 18 Jul 2005, 11:50

I think that to enable Spladooshing to be 'fairer' we should all have some kind of Spladoosh like Identifier.....except the POL t-shirt. That's too easy.
Perhaps saying a word that signifies we are POL-ers, whilst in company.

How about "By jove what a spladooshing day it is today!"

Or..."that bus is running on spladooshing time"....

or "spladoosh, spladoosh...do you do the fandango?"

I'll shut up now.

My original thread from way back seems to have been superseded but if you find the tread "Porty person bagging" you will find a similar suggestion posted on 27th july 2004:

"I for one am one of those people who don't know that many people in Portobello but like the idea perhaps not of stopping to talk to every other shopper but at least be on nodding terms with a few. I've lived here a couple of years and realise that the people I know are existing friends who happen to live here.

Seeing that the "person bagging" idea has been welcomed with such wild enthusiasm by so many people (okay, mild interest by one or two) here's a suggestion to take the idea a bit further.

How about if a simple discreet badge or other sign was produced that forum users could wear when they were out and about. I could therefore have a few people to nod at, I could try and guess who they are, I could stop and talk about portie topics if I/we so desired. Anonymity could be preserved if desired cos noone neds to divulge their online name.

Smart idea or what?
Say something once, why say it again?
When I have nothing to say my lips are sealed
