Bob presents a selection of homespun niceties in the form of 3 complete albums from Netherbow, Absent Friends and the Burns & Rivers project.
The broadcast schedule also includes Jenny Gardner's (Belle Stars) very lovely solo album, 'Cho Chuk' though I haven't heard a track from it yet on the random play?
Back in the late 1980s a stylish young fiddler breezed into Scotland from Bermuda and caught everyone’s attention. Jenny Gardner has been seen jamming in Mediterranean caves, busking in Spain and fiddling up a New Zealand mountain. She’s played in rootsy Shetland band Rock, Salt and Nails, with Cuban/Caledonian Salsa Celtica, and with all-woman band The Poozies - but this beguiling dreamscape is her first solo album. The tunes are nearly all her own , and the cello, viola, bass, banjo, didjeridoo, mandolin and percussion are played by pals from Shooglenifty, Mr McFall’s Chamber and Scotland’s alternative music scene.
NORMAN CHALMERS
Absent Friends features a friend from Adelphi Place on drums, while Netherbow is a folksy prog-rock band he also played in, back in the 70s maan.
There's a Porty connection with the Burns & Rivers project as well - Bath Street from memory.
