Sorry, Bob, still off topic!

Surrealist, i think you're being ageist in not recognising that some of us aren't old enough to remember sixties jingles... Some of us weren't born then! What kind leftie are you, making stereotyped assumtions about the users of this forum?

"Bellybabe"

Whilst I am old enough to remember seeing Star Wars when it first came out, I am afraid I did not exist, at least in this incarnation, during the sixties.

However, I am aware of, and can make references to, decades during which I was not a participant.

In this instance, my awareness of said "jingle" comes from the vinyl record produced to commemorate the final broadcast of Radio Caroline.

Wow, I thought you were renowned for your sense of humour - certainly didn't expect that response!!! I was only teasing.

Ahem - accusations of ageism from someone whose username and avatar are at best gender-specific and at worst mildly sexist?

Liberate yourself, sister !!

Well, I shall take that advice and try my best to liberate myself, brother.

However, i take issue with your comments on my username and avatar. "Babe" to me is akin to "young person" (however deluded that might seem!), and to me is non-gender specific and a term I use with my sons. Belly obviously, given the avatar, is in relation to bellydancing which is in fact a celebration of womanhood, and is only seen in the sexist light of a sexual dance performed for men by people who know very little about this ancient and noble tradition. So there. :P

I've never been accused of sexism that way round before - a new experience! Yay! This board was getting way too serious.

Just wait to you see me do a belly dance.

Then you'd be laughing.

Rule 103: Flyposting and billposting are bad.

Notes on Interpretation of Rule 103: This rule always applies, unless we know the individual(s) responsible and agree with their cause.

Seriously though, Bob's comments about the 'No to the superstore' poster on his street imply that the argument really concerns the permanence and/or the content of the bill - rather than the fact it is there at all. This, in turn, suggests that Surrealist has hit the nail on the head.

All rather unfortunate, since I'd quite like a new superstore (admittedly just because the High Street does not currently have a single redeeming feature and a major new attraction may just change that) and, although I have always opposed the invasion of Iraq, I've had a major problem with lefties since they hijacked a student demo I was involved in around 20 years ago (they let us organise it, stood in the background, then jumped out with their posters when Thatcher's car drove past and the cameras started rolling).

If I put a 'Yes to the superstore' poster up but promise to tear it down when planning permission is refused (due to the hysterical and ill-informed campaign being waged by Nimbies throughout Portobello), will that be allowed to remain?
