I think I possibly know who you are too Porty but I'll have to gather more evidence before I'm sure

The late George Harrison tripped over my foot once and apologised to me. I didn't recognise him at the time and had to to be told later who it was

Oh dear, it's getting terribly confusing again. Porty and his offspring seem to be spread over several different threads and I don't think I can cope with that.

Either Bruce is Porty's son (we have established that, haven't we?) and Flearoy is Porty's daughter? or someone is going to have to draw me another Venn diagram.

Is the other person you're thinking about LW by any chance ( just thinking about your PHS connection)?
Well....I thought I knew who Bruce was because I thought I knew who Porty was....but......then you said he had two boys so then I thought I didn't know who he was......but......now he says he doesn't have two boys so now I think I know who he is again....so.....therefore I know who Bruce is!
And no, the other person wasn't LW, though I know who LW is but the other person isn't another person, he's the person I thought he was in the first place!!
CONFUSED? You will be.

OK - I give in! Whose main office is not far from Portobello and has over 1000 people working there? And do we have to work there to be able to bag Portypeople? I find myself peering at people in the streets of Porty now, wondering if ........

Wangi is right - the Registers of Scotland is where ecm, ali, Poppy and Alex 'work'. They may be more who have kept quiet!

And Dadaist - the building next door is nothing to do with RoS now; we were only tenants of part of it. A right eyesore for the folk who live opposite, I'd reckon?
And do we have to work there to be able to bag Portypeople?
No, I think the PHS FPs [and current pupils] have the edge on that one. Which puts ecm in a strong position for 'bagging'.

Jay, if you go around peering at people in the street and shouting 'spladoosh' at them, you could get into trouble

Everytime I go past that I wonder...

Edinburgh needs ground for housing, answer = lets build flats on top of Meadowbank Stadium... Hmmm, perhaps you could build where that office is?

Edinburgh need more offices, answer = lets build out at The Gyle / Embra Park... Hmmm, perhaps you could use terminally empty offices in the East End? Nah, much better to overheat a single area!

Well, it's better than some things I could shout!

I just hope Portypeople don't start accosting short-sighted innocents, because they are peering, thinking they've spotted the Jay-bird ...........

I just tried Spladooshing a stranger. Don't think bagging off was an option after that. The old saying:"better to bag off before you spladoosh' is a wise one. I will adhere to that in future. :P

Back to famous people spotting, I had forgotten that I once spotted the lovely comedian/actor Dylan Moran (Black Books) in Inverleith swing park.
I really wanted to speak to him but worried that he might bawl me out like his character in the series might.

i guess I don't have too many famous people spotting.

Have spotted Edward Fox, going down to Fowey beach for a swim.

Also spotted Skin from Hipsway (Glasgow band in the 80s) in Buchanan Street, asked him for his autograph and a kiss...

Also spotted Lloyd Cole from the commotions at Glasgow Airport, not recently, I hasten to add in the 80s.

The lovely Christian Slater

Post by nicky » 23 Aug 2004, 13:33

Was walking across from the Playhouse last Thursday when my youngest son (just three) fell his full length. At same time as I went to help him up a taxi pulled out and a guy on a mob phone stepped out, bent down, picked my son up, checked he was OK and carried on chatting on phone.
I expressed my thanks and then had to take a second look when I thought he looked a bit like a lovely film star I have been fond of since a teenager...yes the lovely Christian Slater.

He gave me a wink and then carried on into the hotel.

He is rather cute and child friendly too.

And what a nice encounter (assuming Young Master Nicky was not hurt)

I can't top it, but if you are of my generation and gender, I can offer dancing with Simon Williams, in Reykjavik, when he and I were both young, and he was gorgeous - well, he still is to me! I met him again twenty years later, in a lift at the (Royal) National Theatre - he did not recognise me (!!) - (can't find an emoticon for 'tongue-in-cheek' either! Maybe Dadaist can design one?) - and I did not say anything.

On Sunday I walked past Malcolm McDowall at the bottom of the mound.

He had white hair, wrinkles and was wearing sunglasses.

It's Festival time again - any famous people spotted in that seething mass of humanity 'up town'?? Or taking the air on the Prom?

Besides me spotting Barry Cryer in St Andrew Square yesterday. Much less tall than I'd have thought. Although, I've only really seen him on the radio and in photos on my 'Clue' CDs. :P
