It was the same thing last night, BB! Not very pleasant negotiating a path past.

We watched the Meadowbank fireworks from my Mum's flat across the road from the Stadium - it was a very impressive display. Then a stroll along the Prom about 9.00ish where there were still a lot of fireworks being set off.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and luckily there wasn't too much noise through the wee small hours, which I'd kind of expected.

There were some pretty good ones which looked to be just at the back of Marlborough street. Sandra's dog probably didn't like those though. Do you tranquilise him Sandra?
I didn't think it was too noisy last night and didn't go on too late.

Well, I had a great time last night,though I was bit dismayed to see those chairs being burnt on the bonfire outside "The Dalriada". They looked a lot better than the ones I use at home, but I showed constaint and didn't throw myself at the burning pyre.
I thought that there was a really good atmosphere this year, both in the peaceful run-up to Bonfire Night and on the night itself.

She was a nervous wreck. The fireworks went on for hours and some were very spectacular.

Had a bath and the dog was trying to jump in!!! then when I went to bed she decided to sleep on my head!

I was at Meadowbank on Sunday night for the fireworks show. At Â£4:50 it represents excellent value and a safe environment to enjoy Guy Fawkes night for the whole family. Here's a small section I managed to film:

My poor dog hates fireworks and it's the only time of year that he is not keen to go outside. We went for a stroll along the beach on the 6th and I thought I was in a war zone due to the amount of used ordnance lying around. Firework enthusiasts are not only anti-social with the noise they make but they don't half leave a lot of litter behind them. ASBOs for them all I say.

I'd ban fireworks altogether. Everytime I see or hear them it makes me think of a whoooping and a hollering. Its not fair on dogs either although that is perhaps balanced by the adverse effect on Cats.

I don't mind them being contained to the one night so much but when they used to go on and on for weeks it used to drive me and the dog round the bend.
For the first time in a few years the dog has not been petrified.........poor wee soul is going deaf and didn't as much as twitch, didn't hear a thing

Epykat. I think I spent too much time looking at the thread about the High School and I found it boring, repetitive and way too aggressive (still do). This, I admit, coloured my judgement about the merits of POL and did not leave me very kindly disposed to it. I have since started looking at other threads and they are harmless, good-natured fun with none of the name calling and animosity of the school stuff. I am more comfortable with this and I quite enjoy contributing more often now. Oops, this is the 'fireworks' thread so, BANG.

Really liked the atmosphere on Sunday night on the prom - lots of people having a nice time, watching each others' fireworks and behaving responsibly. Shows there is still room for spontaneous events with noone "official" having to license and run it.

But I'm getting a bit fed up with whoever it is who has been letting off fireworks after 11pm every evening this week.

Oh yes - where I come from we call it "nugget" and the song sang "noo-gah" and we weren't posh enough to understand what that was.

We weren't that posh either. The playground reponse to What's got a hazlenut in every bite was -Squirrel sh.t

The Prom was really nice on Sunday and being able to see the display at Mussleburgh without having to sqeeze into the crowds at Goose Green was a big bonus. There's always some nutters that get their hands on fireworks , sometimes they only hurt themselves. I take it everyone has seen the sqaddie from Sunderland featured in the Metro. If not check out www.metro.co.uk and look at bumfire night. Dont let the kids try it!

Was a bit worried about my wee new chipmunks on bonfire night as they are kept outside in their aviary and sleep in their little nest boxes.!!

(could've brought them indoors but the t.v. waves are supposed to affect them in some way!)

But next morning they were fine and darting about like a pair of wee dafties as usual!!

Dadaist will be pleased to know that Mr. Arachnid dutifully managed to get his budgies into their inside flight and put their radio on loud to drown out the noise!
