sorry Bob it may have been me who missed a couple of subject lines out, it could have been when Bearcub was asking me how I was doing and I lost the plot a bit. I promise I will be more attentive with my second year which I will be doing shortly.

Well, I've just completed mine. Did it in one run - just over 2 hours - not as long as I thought it would take!

Not exactly, now don't go telling me you have a super duper speedy way of doing this?

Its a standard email sent 5600 times to the FR server which then sends it out to the individuals E Mail addresses. These email addresses are not visible or available from the site.

I do reckon someone could write code to do the task via the links but it would be costly.

Thought you would like to see some of the email responses we have had. I removed the name just in case people wanted to remain anonymous.

Dear Joanna
Many thanks for the information, and the site is excellent. I am just rushing off on holiday but I had a quick look and the first item I saw related to an old mate of mine Jimmy Bonthron. It's been about 10 years since I was last in contact with him, so I must pay him a visit when I make my next visit up there. It's about time he was buying me a drink. I left Portobello in 1963 as I used to live in West Brighton Crescent, and joined the Metropolitan Police. I have lived in Kent for over 40 years, but I still pay regular visits. Unfortunately I was up there about 10 days ago as my Mother Chrissie Angus died, but as she was nearly 90 years, she lasted well. (It must be the Portobello air.) If Jimmy Bonthron has an email address that you know of, or you can pass on mine which is <???@???.com> it would be appreciated. Many thanks and kind regards.

Hi Joanna,
Yes I still have some contacts with the old Porty School. I left there in 1957. I would like to visit the site and will do so later in the evening.
Regards......... , in the sunburnt country of Western Australia

Hello Joanna, thank you for telling me about the Porty site. I will certainly look at it. Regards

Hello Joanna,
Thank you for your e-mail about the "Porty" site. Yes I will when I get chance certainly visit it and see what's new. Am sute that it will kindle old memeories.

Looked at a few profiles but the novelty wore off reading about people I don't know - although, in fact, I did know a few. Children of people I know - made me feel VERY old!

Not the most enjoyable task but hey I beat BEARCUB!

Perhaps its cause we are interested in other people especially those we have known previously. I don't know how you can't be bothered :o - maybe its cause you are too busy posting on POL :!:
How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you are?

Nah Lizzie, its just that I want to get the emailing job done quickly. If I see a name I recognise I sometimes have a peek but not very often. In any case we want people to come on here and tell us all about themselves.

We are hoping to have the office get together on Thursday November 12th and ideally we shall be meeting to have a few glasses of wine and finish the job off. This date will rather neatly coincide with Bob's 2nd anniversary as a POL member. I dearly hope that we do not have to delay.
Are there any set arrangements yet for Thursday? Where are we mmeting, etc?

I'm not ignoring your questions DG just don't want to give a misleading answer until I've conferred with Porty et al.
Our team has completed 1390 mailings to date. What a thought! I don't think I'll be logging on to FR for a long time to come :)
Wangi don't you dare tell us at this stage that there was a quicker way to have done this task

Well, I might forget the cut & paste business, but I'm sure I can persuade people to get over here and join us with what I'm likely to say after the wine!
Anyway, I plan to be very well behaved on this lunch date. This person always says we should do this every two or three weeks and after each one he refuses to answer the phone for four months. Not sure what it is I do to him! (Now, now, keep it clean...)
Besides I have to look after other people's children later today, and you always have to be on best behaviour with other people's children, don't you? And I'm sure that'll sober me up well enough to perform tonight. That came out so wrong.

Have RSI now. As does the very last one I did - would you believe it - the very last one i clicked, eyes wandered down the screen to where it said "What am I doing now?"
And he'd written - his spelling, might get through filter - "masterbating".

Anyway, how are we doing, Babes?

Incidentally, I'm wondering if I emailed a few POL members this evening through FR... I thought not because I had of course realised that the person/people in question were far too young to be on my list...But where does Rathbone live again? And did he and epykat leave PHS in the same year? Come on, Epykat, put me out of my misery! [-o<

Only if he stayed on for a very long time BB!! My mother didn't believe in having too many babies around at once so she did tend to space the three of us out a bit :D
