Many thanks to whoever it is that has been listening to RFP straight for the last 16 hours.

It may be that the person has left their computer on overnight, or perhaps died suddenly (not related to our music of course) but thanks anyway - this is a new record!

I like watching the Clustrmap change as more folk listen in. The red dots do make it look like the global spread of some sort of disease, but its still rather exciting.

I agree, China are now listening in. Does anyone know who the person at the top of cananda is and also what's there?

Can our admin folk use their technological gubbins to tell who exactly is listening? I have an image of a wee hairy bloke in a hut out in the depths of Canada who listens to us for some light relief in between shooting and skinning things.

I was thinking the same thing!!! Isn't it right next to Hudson Bay where the dot is? Does anyone know stuff about this area, for example what would this hunters/trapper guy's day look like?

Right, who's on their hols in the Canaries and couldn't survive the week w/o getting their RFP hit

Love the Clustrmap, especially seeing the more unlikely places registering hits on RFP. :D

It's always an exciting time.

Let's see - and this is me thinking out loud -

AOK is en-route with a very interesting historical departure from his usual diet

mystery guest dj 1 - second updated set received

mystery guest dj 2 has come into port but may be delayed until next schedule but 1 due to participation in The Great North Run

mystery guest dj 3 is due to be sending something from Canterbury but she may well miss the cut-off

the ones you know about, gilo - in hand

Rathbone - I will be making my selection at the point of selection-making

....so that's 5 confirmed which is more than enough for an update.

OK - I hope to be able to do an update next weekend.

** Anyone else who wants to get a set in, please do so asap. **

Thanks to all the current players who have been on the last 3 busy weeks.

Anyone who hasn't listened - tut - give the current outstanding selection a spin before it's gone!

Imminent updates

Post by rapunzell » 14 May 2006, 20:53

Eek! You're getting faster. I have two half done sets; one classical and one motorbike. When is the cut off?

BTW, can you tell when folk are listening ie do folk seem to like classical music?

In short - I don't know the answer to either. Get any of your stuff to me asap and hopefully you wont miss the cut-off.

If somebody fed back to me at RFP that they didn't like this or that genre, I would rather encourage them to find the niche station they really wanted than enact a policy other than our current no policy policy.

Having a DJ who spins classical with attitude puts a spring in my step, and I for one am prepared to defend your honour. How's that for PC!!

Got tomorrow off, going to go for a 10 mile walk (in 35deg temperature!?!) round White Rock Lake to burn off some of those portions!

And tonight some music at the Wildflower Festival I think...

Mo - package has been delivered.

I'll be doing the work for the update tonight but it won't go "live" as I have one last disc to collect on Monday pm.

Watch this space!

ROCK HALLELUJAH!

IT'S THE AROCKALYPSE!

IT'S THE DAY OF ROCKENING etc etc

Here at RFP we rock hard, and we salute those who are about to rock.

So roll with us as we present our latest schedule update playlist thing.

A warm welcome to our brand new DJ tag team Gilo versus Ines (well, DJ Gilo and DJ Ines) who have breathed new life and laid down the spiked rock gauntlet to our regulars ....

....who have responded with a heavy menu of ROCK

DJ Mop revs up in fine style with "Smoke Rings" and while Rathbone provides "Songs To Get Around To", the guitar convoy is led by none other than hard rocker himself AmericanaOK who departs from his usual fine selection to give us a tranche of Rock History.

If your booty isn't well and truly saddle sore by now, feel the bootleg quality of DJ Bootleg's smoothly upholstered live gig recording from 1998 in San Francisco.

Get your motor running and head out on the information superhighway.

It's Rock, Jim, but not as we know it ....

AAARRRGH!!!! I just spent weeks doing a "trains, 'n boats 'n planes" compilation. Great minds etc, Rathbone

Amazingly, there's no overlap so maybe I'll let the dust die down and submit it in a couple of months................

There will be late entrants ali as Pace was getting some records sent up from London for his set.

You could still submit your transit set and I'll put it up with his and do a mini-update-announcement, as the next update won't be until I come back from mah holidays.

Up to you though.

I'm in semi-retirement now, but is it too late to submit my cousin, Wackson Priest's set, which is in transit from Muscle Shoals, nr Memphis? It should arrive here tomorrow I hope.

Is introducing a pro-park DJ set too controversial / biased an act for RFP?

Have your say in the debate over at the RFP forum where Gilo has set out his stall :

I don't think you have to register to post, so snipe away if you want.

My apologies then. I must have misinterpreted the bit where you said
I have to 'air' one concern and that is of bias
which to me looked like a valid concern which should be addressed.

I've had a look at what Gilo said and perhaps you should re-read it yourself. He didn't claim it was biased to put the set on RFP and indeed welcomed it. He was talking about your handling of it and the way you posted details of it on Portobello Online.

The point I read from Gilo's posts is that all those who have different views on the park have very passionate beliefs. But we can still all seek to respect each other's views. You seem to think that is it funny or in some way adds to debate to stir things up just for the sake of it. To my mind, it just helps to create bad feeling in a local community.

Perhaps if you decide to reply to this post, you could seek to answer the spirit of it, rather than pick on a sentence and deconstruct the language.
