For the benefit of a certain member, I'm off to Italy tomorrow, hurray. Going to Le Marche for a couple of weeks, hopefully a mixture of hills, lakes, beaches, historic towns and arts, can't wait.

I'm back too!!! :

From our three weeks in "Catzcountry"!!!! Hardly seems anytime since I mentioned that I was going!!!!

Had a wonderful time as we always do when we go there!
But too busy to use my friend's computer as we were out touring about in the car every day!!! Will have to spend some time looking through the threads I've missed!!! Could take a while!!!!!

And it's back to the norm again! Cooking, cleaning etc.

Doesn't take long eh????

I had a lovely time thanks. I went to Le Marche, which I hadn't been to before. the scenery was gorgeous, beautiful national park with mountains and lakes. Very green and scenic, great weather. I flew with Ryanair, my God that was something. I've never actualy seen people running to get to the plane first. It was abit like survival of the fitest, with the young and elderly getting trampled under foot.
I always find it strange when I first arrive back at my house. Having been in a house with tiled floors, shutters and white-washed walls the first moment of seeing carpets and curtains is weird. It reminds me of the set from Sons and Daughters.

Bearcub and I are just back from our summer hol in Majorca. It was very nice and hot and we had a great time. Got off the plane and it was pouring down with rain

Still weekend to recover before going back to work on Monday (Tuesday for BC

) 72 new posts since been away and 650 emails....

We managed to acclimatise to Palma weather pretty quick - sitting outside at 10pm in a balmy 24 degrees and saying to each other "it's getting a bit chilly now, isn't it"

I agree

but its nice being back apart from the rain

, holiday clothes to wash

and going back to work

Better start saving for next holiday

Deep fried small green peppers some sweet some hot - fab! (Pimientos de padrÃ³n con flor de sal Maldon)

Toasted bread topped with ripe tomato and olive oil (Pan tostado con tomate y aceite de oliva virgen) - nothing like brushetta! half tomato is "grated" onto bread and then drizzled with olive oil - sublime

Small spicy sausages cooked in cider (Cazuelita de choricitos a la sidra)
- definitely good tapas.

Also fabby was Minimar (Vicari Joaquim Fuster, 67, Es Portixol) "Hip and minimalist, serving tasty pintxos (basque style tapas) and larger fish dishes". We over ordered one night - were we stuffed or what

Across the street from Forn is Abaco - great bar with fruit piled up on the floor and amazing antiques but rip off drinks wise.

Just back from Majorca this afternoon Sandra. We stayed in the Tres hotel in Palma for the last 2 nights just beside Abaco. We also went to Forn (twice) and totally agree that the tapas were excellent

15 euros for a drink in Abaco was a total rip-off, but fortunately (or perhaps not for my knees) I tripped over a rug in the semi-dark and got our drinks on the house

We went to Paris. We just love it there. Saw the finish of the Tour de France and went to Johnny Depps nightclub just of the Champs Elleyses.
Lots of exploring and shopping. Oh boy can you shop in Paris.........

Was on holiday in Porec/Pula about 15 years ago, when Croatia was still just a "region" of Yugoslavia - loved it. Somewhere I'd like to go back to sometime...

Well Black Mamba will be home from her travels in France, so now it's my turn!!
Mr Arachnid and I are flying to Toronto tomorrow. Staying for three weeks.

Our friends are taking us to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia during two of the weeks( first week camping, second week in a cottage), and the last week at their home in Mississauga, so going to be pretty busy! Might come back home for a holiday!!!!

No doubt will tell you all about it when we get back!!!

We had a great time in (mainly) France (Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg).#It was a lot of driving but made all the easier with Tomtom.

Just got home in the wee small hours this morning, really tired and headachey from the journey.
