I'm going to try and beat my personal best of last year - which was not to watch any.
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

Shabaz to go, Shabaz to go unfortunately he won't be going this week due to his "being in the Big Botherhood" shame. He is such an a r s e

I don't like it when one person gets singled out by the group and the group can say what an awful person they are in complete safety.

I can't say anymore 'cause I'm sooooo dehydrated AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!

I agree, but I also think it depends on the reasons.

If it was because he was asian, scottish-asian or gay - it would be plain wrong.

But I have to agree with Sandra - he has, as Sezer rightly says, come into a marathon as if it were a sprint. It takes a fair amount of effort to get that many people to loathe you - even if they are reality TV types!

I think they need rid of him so that the real love and hate can begin in earnest. I'd rather watch the tensions simmer over a few weeks and then boil up.

Ah but how do we know what people's motivations are, indeed they may not know themselves. I didn't see what Shabaz did that got everyone irate, though I did hear someone say he isn't a good advert for gay men or something like that. Also I think in this group situation people are targeted if they are seen as a bit weaker or easier to be targeted. Also everyone then jumps on the bandwagon and that irritates me. Also talking of a marathon, isn't it Sesar that has been trying to reveal all of himself physically, 'lay hands' on the females in the house and espouse the virtues of having sex with women who he doesn't think are attractive? I'd say he's going at full pelt, but is maybe considered too threatening to be ostracised at this moment. And anyway how come he's left Kajagoogoo?

Blimey, it's only just begun!

Yes - I can only speak for me. I don't like Shabaz because he is annoying and obnoxious. As far as I know, and hope, my motivations aren't based on bigotry.

gilo on sezar :
maybe considered too threatening to be ostracised at this moment
Now *that* is an interesting point. He is your alpha male geezer c0ck of the walk isn't he? I've not got 5 minutes for him - whereas Richard is well cool.

Don't you think that the difference in how Richard and Shabaz have been treated shows that the straight housemates aren't being bigoted, even unconsciously?

You may well have a point on the group dynamic though. I don't think I had considered it all to the depth you had in terms of people joining in picking on somebody easy to pick on.

Keep up with the analysis Gilo!

The thing to think about here though is that you have an asian gay man growing up and living in scotland. Now I don't want to make any assumptions about Shabaz so maybe it's better to think in more general terms. but in considering his behaviour I would want to place it in the context of his experience, which would require learning more about him before writing him off.
In a general sense I would be wondering whether his behaviour may be borne out of strategies to survive a racist , homophobic world. Maybe even that he has created an identity (consciously or unconsciously) around this which presents him with what he feels are the best survival/coping strategies. Maybe, maybe not, but people usually have a story that precedes their behaviour and these are worth finding out.

Also it's not about whether people in the house like or dislike him, it's about how they behave towards him. (Sezar was planning from earlier in the day some form of comeuppance for Shabaz)

We had our very own POL Big Brother a couple of years back and a few of the housemates fell out. So much so that you shall no longer find a trace of the thread, which at the time was one of the most popular.

I agree, just not in the case of Shabaz. I think we've seen people from the groups you mention create those sort of identities and carry it off - and people from none of them be really annoying idiots.

Easy for me though - straight white guy. I'll be the first to admit that he has taken a brave step going on the show and I don't know if I'd feel more sympathy/empathy if I were gay and asian - or if I'd be thinking roughly the same thing, which is that he's an obnoxious twit.

It's beginning to warm up a bit. Wasn't Sesar a bit mean? I think he knows Aiyslene's got his number and he's getting he's retaliation in first.

Yes. There will be fireworks. Looks like Imogen has been banned from nominating. C4's edit tonight makes it look like they want the beautiful crowd taking down a peg or two.

And surprise, surprise, the bookies didn't get it wrong. With only 3 runners, Sezer out with 91.6% of the vote.

It was gripping telly - although I hope this doesn't mean the rest of the run will be boring now that the beuatiful people have been decapitated.

Which was more fun - Sezer's shock or the look on Imogen's face as all those "Hello" covers she had been thinking of being on went bye-bye?

One of the usual things with BB is finding out that people you thought were ok aren't - but I'm starting to wonder if there is more nice to Lea and also (I'm prepared to be very wrong here) Aisleyne once you get past all the slap and stuff for show?
