I felt a new note of optimism in the air today. Perhaps it was the unseasonal good weather, but here are two futher reasons to believe that Portobello is on the up:
Get Creative! sells art and craft materials and runs craft classes for children and adults. They have a short term lease on the ground floor of the Scottish Power conference building. Well worth a visit. Tel 669 5214 for more details. The owners are looking for premises locally on a long term basis, so let's hope they are successful.
Meanwhile, Morag Philips has bought the old Health Clinc building in Rosefield Avenue Lane and is planning to convert it into a dance studio. Morag has held ballet classes for children at Portobello Swim Centre for many years and as a local resident I am delighted that the old tram terminus building is going to be put to such good use. The associated planning application can be viewed here.
A feature on the conversion of this building is planned for Planet Porty in the near future.

Also noticed that Lisa Leslie has applied for permission to turn the empty shop next door into an extension (is that a pun?) to her hairdressing shop. That means that again, all the shops in that row will be occupied - has to be good news (but WHEN is the tie place opening for goodness sake?!)
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!
