Post by CatzVP » 31 Jan 2005, 22:10

How about posting your best recipe (veg/non veg/starter/main meal/or sweet) for the forum (and Mrs Catz who can't cook, won't cook!) something that will do 2 to 4 people with the least fuss and prep time...oh yeah ... and tastes good!

Quick, easy starter - slices of buffalo mozzarella and tomato, seasoned with a trickle of extra virgin olive oil, a sprinkling of sea salt and some roughly ripped up fresh basil leaves.

Another easy starter
-chop some tomatoes
-Flake some smoked fish ( such as mackerel or smokies)
-roughly equal measures of each
-layer in dish, small casserole or individual ramekins
-all lots of black pepper and some fresh basil (dried will do)
-cover fish and tomatoes with fresh single (or double) cream
-sprinkle with cheese, cheddar works well
-oven for 10-15 mins until cheese bubbles

Not low cal but delicious

1 tin of beans

1 smoked sausage (mmm - mattesons)

curry powder to taste **
--------------

heat up beans, microwave sausage and chop up, add to beans, add curry powder. serve. ITS THE BOMB.

--------------

anything from shop-bought "curry powder" to your own masala - as long as there is cumin, turmeric, coriander and chilli. depending on the amount of curry powder, a small amount of water may be needed

One Weetabix, a sprinkling of Cheerios, one artfully chopped banana with ice cold milk to taste.

Worth eating at any time!

pour one can cola over chicken bits

roast

It has a delicious BBQish flavour

No, really. I'll come clean and admit that I've not cooked it myself, but I've had it cooked for me. Delicious.

Answer door bell. Let Aunty in. Relieve her of casserole dish full of her macaroni cheese. Put it in oven. Eat.

I would never dream of drinking coca cola but I have tried a Nigella Lawson recipe that involves cooking a ham with it. I'm sure you could substitute any similar soft drink - Irn Bru works quite well.

Great link ecm - classic trailer trash cuisine!

I think Skeely is right when mentioning it has to be Casseroled or Roasted in Coke to give the Cola time to caramelise .

Mrs Catz and Myself have quickly marinated Steaks in Coke for the BBQ.... they were OK but I think the BBQ flavoured them more than the Coke...

as soon as I saw this thread title I just knew Dada would post his all-time fav quick recipe

there most definately should be a warning about the side-effects  In fact, I normally only let Dada eat this meal when I'm going to be out

Cheesey pasta - Cook some penne pasta in water with a stock cube (preferrably veggie). Drain out most but not all the water when past is ready, put back on a low heat and stir in some soft cheese such as bell paese or laughing cow cheese. Distribute into bowls, top with grated cheddar or similar cheese, parnesan and black pepper. You can decorate with chopped chives for effect (and added taste) if you like.

Really easy, really quick tea or dinner.
