yipee real lovely snow.

apparently all the tourists are out in the royal mile taking piccies - hope it lies and we can all go sledging!

What a great photo! There's so much snow I can't make out where it was taken.

Noooo....I'm just back from a week in the South of Spain...and I'm freezing my butt off here...what a shock to the system

I've just arrived at work this morning. Drove through the park past Duddingston Loch - looks absolutely gorgeous. However, roads are very slippy and slushy and traffic is (thankfully) slow. Side roads around Morningside are sheets of thick ice. Be careful if you are going out - and take a camera

I am greatly encouraged by all this snow in Portobello; after warnings of no snow and books saying the same I was quite chuffed to stand out in the 'blizzard' late on Tuesday night and rekindle my childhood memories of scary snowstorms and swirly winds.

It reminded me ever so slightly also of the magnolian honeymoon, taken in a very snowy February in a 'black house' on Harris, on a wind swept beach overlooking that island that would later become the castaway place for the tv series. It was an interesting holiday, as the snow vied with the sand to try and take over the inside of the accommodation... (by the end of the week we had the stove cranked up so high we had to keep the door open and it was actually very easy for both snow and sand to pile in)

I distinctly remember mrs m looking slightly glum as she sat in front of the stove and swigged at the champagne bottle while wearing all her clothes. And gloves. And hats.

It was nice to watch it out the window at work. Couldn't see the Crags at all for blizzary snow storms, then wee bits of snow and then snow storms - quite entertaining!
