What's happening to the former church ? [opposite Adelfi Place] that was turned into a general wholesaler and now has horrible hoarding up which has been there for most of the summer with very little happening in the way of building work.

It's very ugly and let's hope that whatever happens to the traditional building is well worthy of it's place on the high street and not something hideous.

Another conversion to flats I think. If you have the street number you will get more information on the planning portal. Maybe someone else has more on this?

I think we have to exclude works in progress from our eyesores gallery, assuming that work is indeed progressing at this particular site.

Yes, 74 Portobello High Street is being converted into flats. The plans show that the original building at the front is being retained with a new build extention at the back. The doors will be at the sides and rear so the front elevation will be the original retained window extended down in a sympathetic manner. I believe that the materials to be used on the restored frontage will be traditional and real srone will be used to match the existing Fingers crossed, it should be a real improvement to this section of the High Street.
