Could anyone tell me anything about Wellington Villa?
It was situated where Marlborough Street is now, the street previously being called Wellington Street.
I am also wondering if it burnt down or was knocked down to make way for flats?
Any information will be gratefully received or if anyone can point me in the direction of more information that would be great.
Thanks

The white/cream house at the very bottom of Marlborough Street on the right hand side going down was very badly damaged in a fire a good many years ago (maybe about 35) and I think someone actually died in the fire. Not sure if this was called Wellington Villa or not but might be what you're thinking of.

Thanks for your reply re "Wellington Villa".
The house I am interested in finding out about was situated at the top end of the street but your reply was interesting nonetheless.
Thanks

Re: Wellington Villa
Sandra - Asked someone from History Soc - no knowledge of Wellington Villa but Wellington Cottage is about half way down on the right.Sandra wrote:Could anyone tell me anything about Wellington Villa?

Thanks very much for your reply.
We have copies of old deeds to our flat and it mentions a "Wellington Villa" being where the flats now stand. The deeds are very interesting though quite difficult to understand and decipher.
