Michael Jackson Trial

Post by foxy » 06 Jun 2005, 19:36

Guilty or not ?

I just heard a quote on TV which was "Michael if you're not doing anything, why are you always doing it with 12 year old boys" which sums up exactly what I feel about him

Would you let your son go for a slumber party?

Nope - and if he is found guilty is it to be jail or therapy or both?

Its all very sad.

What concerns and angers me is that some people seem to be forgetting that this is a child abuse case and not a celebrity case. Some of the reporting and supporters behaviour outside the court room has been so inappropriate. If he is guilty, how does it feel for the victim and their family to hear cheering outside for Michael Jackson and against the victim?

I am naturally suspicious of 'victims' who go to their lawyers and publicists before they go to the police. But no - the young Pal of Porty's won't be going there for a sleepover. :?

I really do not know what to think! He has always been a 'bit off the wall', but he does also have amazing talent - Thriller - one of the best music video's ever,IMO.

I would never have associated MJ, with child molestation. :
But, If he is found guilty - then I hope that the penalty fits the crime.

Ha Ha, I guess everyone else gets it but just aren't saying anything

Smooth Criminal (has to be the full version) is the greatest music video ever made IMHO. I have watched it literally 100's of times, the choreography is breathtaking. Even if the bit where they lean forward til their noses almost touch the floor is dubbed, it is still a thing of wonder. I find myself ignoring the brilliance of MJ and watching the dancers around him. Awesome and I don't use that hideous word lightly.

I hope the guy is innocent.

He might well be found innocent, but that doesn't mean he actually is. They had enough evidence to actually get to court, in itself no mean feat in a child abuse case. And while a lot of accusations have been hurled at the kid's mother, whether or not she had some involvement in what happened is not the question, it's whether MJ is guilty of abusing a child. Sexual abuse does not necessarily only involve overtly sexual acts. We see children of twelve as children, however they may seem themselves, and whilst they may be persuaded by many means by adults to take part in certain things, it can hardly be called informed consent.

Maybe nothing overtly sexual happened; but would you let your twelve year old sleep with an older man, any older man, not just rich and famous ones, in return for favours and see that as acceptable? I remember when I was a child those awful adverts on TV where the spooky man in the car was waiting by a playground and trying to bribe kids to go with him for sweets, or to see puppies or something (scared the living daylights out of me) - it's long been known paedophiles groom children by offering them interesting, pleasant things in order to get their compliance. This kid gets slated for falling for just that - for liking the money and the status and so on - and maybe the kid is no saint, but he still has a right to be safe from abuse, and he was still a child.

If Robert Redford offered me $1,000,000 for a roll in the hay, I'd find that hard to resist, and I'm a grown up (honest!).

Bellybabe, you go on to rant about your position. The trigger for you appears to be my statement, "I hope the guy is innocent" I, cold, calculating, considerate, willful, want Michael to be innocent. You may notice that I said "I hope the guy is innocent" not found, not considered, not conceptually, just innocent. LTNHHF

No dear, you didn't trigger my rant. I just quoted you as it seemed relevant, not because I misunderstood your meaning or thought you meant you hoped he'd be found innocent.
My apologies if I gave you to understand otherwise.

Oh it's pretty boring Foxy, just Maria instead of Marya. POL went through a domain name transfer (?) and for some reason I couldn't log on so had to modify my user name and re-register.
Have you ever known anybody go through regression hypnosis? I'd have more time for it if it wasn't for the fact that you never hear of anyone who had a mundane past existence. They've all been Marie Antoinette or someone similar

I am glad he is innocent. And I fully expect a resurgence in his career.

No-one gives MJ credit for predicting this type of trouble many years ago. It can't be easy being a major star, living in sunny California, having to live a life of relative isolation, much of it under the cover of darkness and having all the money you need to have a perennial party.

Jackson firmly stated, years ago, that when the poop did hit the fan he was strong enough to cope with the sunshine, the moonlight and even the good times. However, the root of his troubles would ultimately prove to be the boogie. How right he was.
