Well, where have you been, or where are you all going for your holidays this year?
Me and my other half were at Ibiza about a month ago! Told our friends that we were going " clubbing" and to all the " foam parties"!!
But in reality, we went to the quiet resort of Es Cana!!
Had a great time just doing what we pleased! Eating, walking, sleeping and , of course, drinking!!!! ( hic!)
We'd never been there before and found that it's a really beautiful island.
And there's something for everyone! The busy towns for people who like to go to the clubs etc., and the quieter resorts for the ones who like the peaceful life!!
Then it's home again and before you know it, it seems as if you'd never been away!!!!!

Sound like you had a blissful, tranquil hol!

We are having Porty hol this year though hope to go to Tuscany next summer - somewhere I have always wanted to go - bit of culture in Florence and then some country life and vinyards.....

If the weather continues as it has, except for the last couple of days,
Porty should be a good place to go for yer hols. this year!!

I went to Es Cana in 1984 Arachnid. It holds mixed memories for me as I was there with my friend and her boyfriend and my ex-boyfriend. He wasn't my ex when we booked the holiday, but by the time the holiday came around he was. You know how it goes! Anyway he spent all the time with the girl next door who was from Coatbridge, my friend spent her time having a romantic time with her boyfriend and I spent a lot of time sitting in cold baths trying to ease the prickly heat that covered my body, torturing myself all the while with wild imaginings of what Homer was getting up to in Greece with tanned, nymphomaniac Scandinavians.
On the plus side I did win a bottle of Cava in a leg-wrestling competition (against a professional dancer, no less, in the final!)

Now I tend to tag along to Greece with Homer. We've just come back from a week in Stoupa, which is on the mainland on the Mani peninsula . We first visited Stoupa 15 years ago and although it has become much more touristy we still like the area very much. It has something for all; Homer climbed Profitis Ilias (2407 metres) the highest peak in the Mani

and my son and I sat in the shade in the village and sipped cold drinks.

Oh Marya!! What a rotten time you must've had!!!! That's one holiday you'd want to forget aye!!!

It's so good when you find a place to go that you really like.
Think we'd go back to Es Cana sometime

I get prickly heat too Marya and you can't imagine how awful it is until you have it yourself (no prickly comments please Porty!!!) My trying to describe my ailment to a greek chemist circa 1988 was pretty destressing especially when he came up with a cure at Â£88! camomile lotion and aloe vera -and Neals yard potions are good anicdotes.

Don't think I would be able to relax sitting under those octupus/squid thingies hanging off the pulley. I'd be waiting for one to slip off and land on my head.

Except the bit about climbing to ridiculous heights, of course.

It's hols at home for us this year. Which is fine as long as this nice weather continues.

We spent a few days in Shetland and very enjoyable they were too. Once we got there that was.
We flew from Edinburgh to Wick and were told that the chances of landing at Sumburgh were remote due to the fog but after some deliberation the pilot decide that he would give it a try. So we took off again and twice attempted to land at Sum. but pilot couldn't see the runway and we landed back at Wick. We then flew back to Edinburgh (5 hours later) and were transported by taxi to Aberdeen and put up for the night in a lovely hotel.
Flew from Dyce the following day and finally arrived on sunny Shetland.

The magnolians went to Porth Dynllean in (very) welsh wales.(yes, just next the PH on the map

) . And very nice and hot it was too. Not at all like my memories of Wales.

And we went straight there and straight back. No taxis or diversions for us!

We're off to the LLeyn Peninsula soon too Mr M. We'll be spending a few days under canvas (well, a more modern fabric this year I hope!) in a field in Llangwnnadl, along with Homer's entire extended family. It's a family tradition that's been about since the time of the Druids; Homer gets really excited about getting his tent pegs out and I grow more and more grumpy as the date approaches.

The scenery and beaches are rather lovely though, so fingers crossed we get the same weather as you.

Hair dryer! You jest!
There's a corrugated iron roofed block containing two draughty toilets and another shed containing ; a shower with a fine selection of spiders (Arachnid would be in seventh heaven

) and clammy shower curtain, a sink with an antiquated water heater and badly pock marked mirror, an electrical socket for a metered tumble dryer and a fridge. The dimensions of the shower room are nice and compact so that it is possible to stand in the wet shower tray and plug the tumble dryer in at the same time. Not advisable of course, but rather tempting by my 3rd night ....

Homer and son, of course, see it all in a much more romantic light. We took one of my son's pals along with us last year and he's booked in with us again this year. They can't understand why I'm so underwhelmed by it all.

Last camping holiday we went was in 1995 with Prombabe & Co. Total nightmare. Freezing, wet, windy, went to bed (use the term loosely) every night in two layers of clothing topped by waxed jackets with the hood up. Final straw was when the Prombabes were flooded out of their tent and spent the rest of the night in the car

Even the video of events didn't survive - Mr E taped over it with Italian football! This year I'm off to Budapest to be pampered for 5 days in a five star hotel with me mates

Although there are spiders there, don't think I fancy your very exciting, unmissable holiday!!!! I know you'll say that I don't know what I'm missing, but after what you wrote, I don't think I want to find out!!!!!

We've been going to visit our friends in Mississauga, just outside Toronto, every second year since 2000. It's a great place!! We'll be due another visit next year! Pity it's not this year, could've tried to bag each other!!!

Never been to Canada before and I don't have any rellies there or anything. Just chose it because we had heard lots of people say how good a place it is and also because its easy to get a direct flight from Scotland. Really looking forward to it

Never been to that part of Canada Foxy, though I had friends who lived in London, Ontario and loved it. Are you touring while you're there or staying put? It looks real easy to nip across to the States too.
