How could that happen?
How could that happen?
Most but not all of my Private messages have disappeared from my Inbox and my Sent Box. Those that are left are not the most recent, it seems to be random. I have definitely not deleted them myself and my boxes were not full. How could that have happened?

I blame Wangi and/or Paul/xxxx! However, mine look OK, I must admit.foxy wrote:Most but not all of my Private messages have disappeared from my Inbox and my Sent Box. I got the new posts, I got the new users...
But on having a good look I've missed copying across polls since the weekend (just that 1 I think) and also all private messages since then!
Ah well - I'll just leave it be now

Well I done a clean up, and I done it by the tried and tested method - don't ask, just do. Listen to the screams later!
I deleted the first 6000(!) private messages (okay 6000 weren't left, more like 2000) - I forgot about the save box
, should have left them alone. Problem is most folk tend to leave their PMs sitting in the inbox forever.
All "recent" messages (from around start of June) are still intact. And I still have the deleted ones in a backup (pretty sure).
I'll see what I can do...
(This actually came around as I was putting in place a proper nightly backup of the various databases behind the site)

You have for me Wangiwangi wrote:Erm, leave it with me and i'll give it a look somepoint tomorrow when all the cryptic column types in the database table might make some sense (too many beers just now I fear).
I did mean to restore the messages that were in your "Savebox" just then, but have I actually restored the "Sentbox" ones?
