Parking and Moving

Post by angigael » 22 Jul 2005, 20:48

I'm moving house in some weeks - just up the road to Northfield. Still be coming back to Portobello for my shopping.

Easy parking is not often available in Bath Street. Would anyone know if I can reserve some space for a few hours to load a van? And if so who would I contact?

Thanks in advance
Angi

When we moved (about 6 years ago) we phoned the Police Station and they sent somebody out with cones. Don't know if they still do that but you could give it a try.
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

lol Epykat - we did the same about 24hrs later

we phoned Fettes and they did the cones but the service is no longer available (or at least that was what I was told when we moved from Marlborough Street last December)

angigael - have you got friendly neighbours with cars who can all park outside the night before then move when the lorry comes?

Or you could move the copious amounts of wheelie bins to a strategic position!

Phone the main Council number on 200 2000 and ask for City Network Services - North. If you give them enough notice they can arrange a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (they might charge you for it) to prohibit parking. That way, Parking Attendants can move any cars that are blocking the removal lorry on the big day. If not, they can put out advisory boards and cones, but you have to hope that neighbours see them and move their cars. Good luck.

Angigael, when I moved 2yrs ago I was told (after much to-ing and fro-ing) that you contact the council probably the people Ned Ludd suggested but they are not cones anymore they are 'A'board type signs and you have to collect them and return them yourself. And of course this has to be done during the week.
