I hated our stairgate with a passion. It was so annoying if you just wanted to nip up stairs. At least yours looks like you can be tele-ported!

Did it annoy you as a child or as a parent?

We got one put in in our last house in Stanley Street cost abput Â£90. The very next day Bruce learned to bottom bump his way down the stairs. We never used it.

BTW I have this mental picture of Bruce, as he is now, bottom bumping his way down the stairs

I may have the price wrong but the stair was really wide so it had to be bespoke. Bruce was a bottom bumper par excellence. Indeed, he may still be but I havent seen him on a dancefloor.

We didn't need a stair gate when the brats were small because we lived on the level but we did have one latterly for the dog - well, she was old and couldn't get down safely. It was supremely annoying I have to say but at least she didn't manage to work out how to climb over it

Here is what the Evening News said today about Stair Gates for kids:

"FIVE of the best-selling child safety gates pose a danger to toddlers, a new report claimed today.
The gates - used to block off stairs and areas like kitchens - failed British standard safety tests, according to the Which? consumer magazine.
The organisation warned the gates could lead to strangulation or choking if a piece of child's clothing, a bib or a dummy gets caught."

If you look closely, you will see that Winnie The Pooh has his head stuck between the bars in our gate.
