CCTV

Do the Police really need CCTV cameras outside their station? Surely they could just look out the window? And the (no doubt, expensive) cameras could be deployed in areas that they can't see so readily...

hi chas

interesting one really. just last friday evening i was out with my dog (who doesn't get to defecate without me cleaning up after him) at about 8pm. There was a large gang of very unruly teenage kids right outside the police station beneath the cctv. Lots of noise, swearing etc. Reckon they were drunk. Don't know what if anything the police did about it. Wonder even what they could do.

My worry is that with CCTV on the High Street are the 'yob groups' going to congregate on other previously quiet streets? In all I'm infavour of monitoring troublesome elements but I worry about what happens when the problem is displaced.

I received the following message from Police Sergeant Cathy Crease:

'' The CCTV cameras outside the station are a matter of police security and are there for that reason. For obvious reasons the security of police stations is not something that can be discussed in an open forum.''

So, that's that cleared up! Seriously, I hope that the police and other local service providers will participate in this forum and reply to postings that concern them. Often, complaints about services are due to misunderstandings and caused by lack of information so it's really in everyone's interest to maintain a dialogue.

Just re-reading an old topic.

Nickys comments are still valid, judging by my recent 'sightings'. And why, as tax paying citizens can't our employed staff justify their actions to us in a more meaningful way?
