Nice photos Robin! Looks like you had nice weather too.
It's a part of Scotland I've never visited but would love to one day.

Lovely pics Robin - brought back a lot of good memories. Isn't the Italian Chapel unbelievable, when you think what it was built from? Thanks for sharing them.

I didn't know anything about this, Jay, so went off for a Google.
Unbelievable indeed.

That's a good site ecm - thanks for finding it. I guess there's hope for us humans yet, when people can produce something so beautiful under such challenging conditions. I have also seen beautiful and intricate ornaments carved by Napoleonic POW's from the bones of the meagre meat rations they were given to eat

I second that! They didn't have skulls out when I was there! I understood the 'dressers' at Skara Brae were thought to be for peaceful display of your best pots etc., not the heads of your enemies (or even ancestors)!
Great pics though!

The concrete fellas are WW2 batteries to keep an eye out on German fleets coming in to attack our fleet that were in Scapa Flow.
The skulls belonged to "The Tomb of the Eagles", they're not real but they had 2 real skulls in the museum. You had to use the skateboard to enter the tomb.

Aha! Thanks for explaining that, Robin. I never made it to Tomb of the Eagles - I'm not sure I could have got inside if I had got there - especially after what you've just said!

No probs, to be honest I wasnt that impressed with it. the museum guide was indepth and had plenty stone age tools, pottery and of course the skulls but the tomb its self I was disapointed in, they have put a big concrete roof over it and I thought it might have a nit of a ery atmosphere but it didnt.
