Locked gates in Rosefield Park

Can anyone shed any light as to why the gates to Rosefield Park (at the Rosefield entrance) were locked on Sunday afternoon? I know that BRA had proposed locking these gates (at night only) sometime back, but thought that this proposal had been since abandoned.

Dunno, but think it might be time to do it again judging by the number of excitable, vodka-fuelled children I passed on the way home.

Definately the night for it. I'm sure this is the first time this year I've heard that lot of lads on their pushbikes hanging around the bottom of Bath St and the prom, yodelling to each other or whatever it was that I heard

Rosefield Avenue. But they were heading in that direction. I imagine that the mid-term holiday was a cause for celebration.

They hung around on the Prom for a while, on his way home about 9.30 Mr Soupy spotted a police van following some up Bath St.
They seemed to drift noisily up and down Regent St , Marlborough St and Bath St and back to the Prom around the toilet until another van came along the Prom.
Clanger 4 had a couple of pals round last night watching dvds so we gave them a lift home in the car as the group were a bit intimidating to send a lone emo/goth out amongst. Not that it could be said that the ned group were doing anything other than being loud and crass.

There was a raucous lot on the Prom last Saturday, mostly being noisy and cheeky. The lights on the toilet seem to attract them like moths

Oh well, I heard nothing untoward last night so they either didn't exit the park via West Brighton Crescent or they did so quietly.

Had seen the police monitoring a situation at lunchtime where some young skaters/emos were being chased by some other kids on bikes on Brighton Place. These were young S1/S2 pupils so nothing serious, but there is certainly a feeling of celebration in the air. Must admit I feel like kicking my heels up too

Serious enough. According to reports, one of the kids was attacked with a golf ball inside a sock (or something similar).

I was going by in the car and wondered what was happening in Brighton Place. Saw some older kids jumping in and hiding behind the bushes in Little Acorns nursery.
Think there were rumours going round various schools about "neds" launching attacks on emos, that's why, apart from the weather Clanger 4 and pals were in here last night.
Sounds like a plot from a sci fi novel, the Chavs and the Emos revolt.
It's a pity there's not much for either group to do but hang about the streets an indulge in pack behaviour

Really? That sounds much more serious. I was approached by some of the pursuing group, who were trying to figure out which house their alleged victims had taken shelter in. They weren't that chuffed that I wasn't prepared to tell them, but they didn't even swear at me which was a pleasant surprise!

I didn't see any sign of weapons at that point.

Was that you on the corner of West Brighton Cres and a group of "hoodies " on bikes?
When I was at the traffic lights I'd seen another group( more "ned" like on foot run up and some hid in Little Acorns, some others milling about so it was obvious something was happening but couldn't see what, then as I drove down saw the ones on bikes but nothing happening again. Was n't sure if they were with or against the ned lot. Confusing to try and figure out which tribe is which.
Saw 4 skater lads coming out far end of Brighton Park

Clanger 4 says one of his pals brothers was hit on the heads with asnooker ball inside a sock, must be same incident.

Yup, sort of dark green?
I was heading down towards the High St.
Grey, wide but accommodating, getting on a bit ( and the cars not much better)

Had thought it might be confict between Porty High and Holy Rood, hard to tell as both schools have black sweatshirts.
Knew my youngest was already outside our door as he sent text to say had forgot his keys but was scanning to see if I recognised any faces.
