Sunday train service for Fireworks Concert

Post by Bob Jefferson » 15 Aug 2005, 21:38

From Maureen Child:
Dear All

First ScotRail are providing a service between Newcraighall, Brunstane and Waverley on Sunday 4th September for people who want to go to the Festival Fireworks Concert in Princes Street at 9pm that evening and return afterwards.

This is the first Sunday service on this line since it opened in 2002. Mary Dickson, Managing Director of First ScotRail, arranged this service at the suggestion of my Portobello colleague, Councillor Lawrence Marshall - also one of her employees. So all credit to Lawrence for the idea. The next task is to get a Sunday service on permanently.

This service will be benefit residents in East Edinburgh within walking distance of Brunstane station and those from further afield who can park-and-ride at Newcraighall. Many are parking and riding already at Newcraighall, Monday to Saturday, and trains from Newcraighall are noticeably busier in the off-peak hours the moment.

The timetable on the Sunday 4th September is:

Newcraighall d 1805, 1910, 2005
Brunstane d 1809, 1914, 2009
Edinburgh Waverley a 1815, 1920, 2015

Edinburgh Waverley d 2230
Brunstane a 2236
Newcraighall a 2241
