Recently there have been a few meet ups, which is great.
I think it would be even better if we could make sure we invite all members to these gatherings, and not just the "usual suspects", or the Top Ten posters.
Did we not elect a social convenor?
Could there not be a better way of making these events more inclusive by giving clear and open invitations to all?

Unfortunately, we couldn't post about meeting up with Rathbone as he may have read it and the 'spladoosh' would have lost its element of surprise. The folk notified therefore were ones who by dint of their involvement with various POL groups ( such as the local business directory or the Friends Reunited initiative) had already shared their personal email addresses with one another, in the hope they could pass the message on to someone else. Not perfect I know, but not all email addresses supplied when a user registered are checked by them on a regular basis and may even have changed since they registered.
Can't think of any other unpublicised group meet-ups other than Mod meetings or accidental ones - the Dalriada on a sunny day guarantees one
So when's the next proper 'do' Epy?

An official PoL jolly up is long overdue.
It can be tricky though. Previous "dos" have involved lots of discussion regarding venues and dates.
Perhaps we could kick-start things by just having a drink locally.
Our social convenor could just pick a date and venue instead of throwing it out for discussion and those able or inclined could come along.
After that we could think of more interesting ideas for get togethers, such as Porty's idea for a Treasure Hunt or the like?

Yes, a Sunday afternoon/evening at the Dalriada sounds good.
If we can't be bothered talking to each other we can just listen to the music.

Well, we'd have to see, I suppose.

Still trying to get rid of all that wood, Wangi?
That sounds a good idea though.

It's not 100% inclusive. Bozzy The Bear will not be invited :
(He had a potty mouth and got expelled from nursery.)

Well Dada, judging by how underwhelmed Porty and I were by the response to our open invite to join us at the BraBQ you better offer more than just a fire.

People would come to a bonfire. If you build it, they will come.

You been hearing the voices again Dada? Here's hoping we don't get too many POL ghosts with a disgraced past visiting

To be fair, Marya the invitation to the BRABQ only went out at 1.30 when it was just starting and by that time most folks would have had their day planned. I for one was in Kelso all day and only read about it in the early evening. I think a wee bit of notice and more people would turn up.

I think that Sandra and ecm should mug Epykat and take over her Social Convenor baton!!

They seem to be more than qualified to organise any event where booze is involved!!

Friday 23rd sounds fine to me too

And if somebody would stop posting pictures that are way too big - I might be able to read the rest of the posts without my screen going all funny

Sandra and I came to an informal arrangement that she would take over all social convening duties for the forseeable future (didn't we Sandra?

)and I think she's done an admirable job so far.

I should be able to make it although i'm quite overwhelmed at the prospect of discovering what POL people look like.
ps (can't be bothered to start a new thread) where do the rather attractive POL stickers come from? (there's one in the furniture shop window at the top of Marlborough street)

Hurrah!
It is a bit daunting.
I've yet to meet one or two of the regulars in the flesh myself and didn't get a chance to chat properly with others that I met last time around.
I'm sure it'll be a fun night though.

They show who our supporters are in the local business community - they are the businesses who have decided to advertise in the POL business directory. I was sticker-spotting myself this morning - I saw three on Bath Street.

Been quite busy recently so it would be nice to catch up with folk.

Yes, apologies. I think lack of notice was a problem for a few. The original date was the week before, but we postponed because of the rain.
The arrangements had been fairly low key
