Why can't I?
Why can't I?
Log on to POL from my own PC at work yet when I go to another PC with the same ADSL connection I can? I have even deleted my shortcuts and tried typing the full address in.
If you're using Internet Explorer, go to Tools--Internet Options--Privacy. By default, it should be set at Medium, which allows Cookies from the originating website. (ie works with POL). Setting it higher than that risks making websites not work. Setting it lower compromises security.
If you're using Firefox, go to Tools--Internet Options--Privacy. There is a section called Cookies. Make sure that "allow sites to set cookies" is enabled.
Good luck!

I don't believe in Beatles.
No joy.
PoP is au fait with the cookies protocol and we have followed your insructions but to no avail.
It cannot locate www.porty.org.uk
Baffling

Cut out an extra step -> go to http://porty.org.uk/ (we redirect to this if you use the horrid www. version)
Next guess is it's a problem with your hosts file. If you're confident, your PC is spyware-free (use AdAware to make sure) head over to http://www.anybrowser.com/board/Forum1/HTML/000097.html which discusses a similar problem connecting to Amazon. I've never tried following the instructions though!

No joy. I followed the instructions on any browser and although i could locate a "Hosts" file, it was a sample file.
I will try another browser but risk the wrath of IT nerd. There is something amiss. PoP document settings have been changed for example.
I have a feeling my browser has been hijacked in some way. It looks like the IE/Google browser but is it? Why does the issue only occur with POL.

Remember Porty, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get youPorty wrote:I have a feeling my browser has been hijacked in some way. It looks like the IE/Google browser but is it? Why does the issue only occur with POL.
BTW if it's any consolation I can't load the site properly in IE now either. It finds it OK, but loads it way off my screen to the right. Different problem I know as I use a version of IE for Mac, but I'm with you in spirit
