Koalas

Post by teddygirl » 03 Sep 2005, 21:32

Does anyone know how long the koalas are going to be at Edinburgh zoo for? I don't know if they are permanent residents, or just here on loan for a while. I would like to go see them but wouldn't rush if they were going to be here for a while.

I didn't know about the koalas, TG.

This piece from the Scotsman seems to suggest they are to be a permanent fixture.

Thanks ecm. I have found another link which says they are on loan from San Diego zoo but the article you found suggests that it is a long term loan and obviously if they do not settle in well then that is where they will return to.
It would be great if they managed a successful breeding programme with them.

TG,
We saw them last week. My impression was that they're to be permamnet residents. They've come from San Diego, because that's the specialist centre in charge of breeding for Koalas, but I definitely thought they were here to stay.

Thanks BB, I haven't been to the zoo in ages but will definitely make an effort to get out there quite soon. I've never seen Koalas before so can't wait to see them.(they'd better not be hiding the day I decide to go  )
