This will have a local impact as Holyrood High School is one of the Secondary Schools that is due to be re-built. Looks like the completion date will now be set back by at least a year now, to 2010 at the soonest. :(

I guess BB thought they were out of the running for the contract... Fessing up and coming clean that they were given information gives them another chance at the contract.

Or am I just being too cynical.

Ulterior motives? Surely not? I mean they've just been cleared of Corporate manslaughter after the Hatfield disaster - despite admitting breaching safety guidelines.

At least they caught it before work started. Is there no criminal recourse against the worker and the company concerned?

The company concerned informed the council and/or police of the situation, so they behaved appropriately - as has been said, perhaps to do with ulterior motives of their own, but they did do the "right thing". There is a criminal investigation underway into the council employee concerned, and that person has been removed from post. So I suppose the answer is yes, to the employee, and no, to the company, who actually did nothing wrong.

I think it all depends on the timing. When has the information given to them, and when did they come clean about it? Was there a long spell, or was it immediate?

Remember the project was in its final stages of appointing a contractor.

The two Directors claim that they took action almost immediately on finding the leaked information.

I do not know if they had an ulterior motive or were acting very responsibly. I do happen to know however that there are many people working in corporate life that do actually operate with complete integrity.

BTW, I am not suggesting one way or the other that this is the case here. :)

I don't think Mrs Dalrymple can be having a very good day at work...
