Hi
My other half has decided it is about time he get reacquainted with the catholic church (

), myself being a practicing heathen doesn't much see the point, but hey ho - his choice! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any catholic churches in Portobello, or any recommendations of one nearby?
Thanks
G

Yeah, it's a beautiful looking church and seems well attended from what I see.
It got an extensive face lift fairly recently.
Is it true that the work was largely funded by a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund?
Would seem a tad ironic if that was the case.

There was a grant and the works cost more than £1million. Apparently the vatican no longer want priests to look down on the congregation so they had to realign the whole floor.
St John's is a vibrant parish with lots of family involvement and a strong bond with the school, a definite boon for Portobello. I'm not a catholic but my kids went to St John's and I feel the lurve.

St Johns, very popular - go early for a seat.
