I am a member of the Council's Education Standards Sub Committee for East Edinburgh schools, nurseries and community centres. I had the pleasure of reading and learning, first hand, about the work of this local nursery and the very good service they provide to their 70 children and their families in the local area.
For the Inspectors - Her Majesty's Inspector of Schools and the Care Commission jointly - the work the nursery do on developing children's communication and language and children's knowledge and understanding of the world were particularly strong. The team of inspectors found there was a high level of professional competence and commitment to the work of the nursery. And very good support for children requiring additional support. I was very encouraged that their good work would be further developed under the new, very experienced Acting Head Teacher.

From Maureen Child's most recent report to the Community Council:
Looks like things are maybe slowly getting back to normal at St. Johns.
I have to admit to being slightly peeved at the way the School have handled a few issues since Ted Brack left, but it looks like things are returning to normal.
Regarding the nursery, I think its Mrs Robinson who has moved over there this year...she is brilliant. My wee girl had her last year and I cant speak highly enough of her. My own experience of the nursery is slightly tarred by the 2 1/2 month strike a couple of years back.the staff were ace, though.
