Another new shop

Apparently we are soon to have another new gift shop on the High Street.(the old grocers shop near Lisa Leslie Hairdressers)
This is good news indeed and hopefully will sell a nice range of goods.

Also the computer shop next to m people has finally decided on a name and got a sign up... just in time for another computer-stuff place to open up on the other end of the High St (near the corner with Fishwives Causeway).

The old grocers opened up for a couple of days a while ago and then has been shut ever since.

Hope it sells nice stuff

I was quite surprised to see the doll's house shop the other day - don't know how long it's been there, but I've not noticed it before!

Was at Lisa Leslie's today - they say the shop nextdoor is to be a clothes shop of some sort, but they don't know what the old Pizza Paradise shop which is also being done up is going to be [exept probably not a food shop as extractors removed?]?

and anybody know what's gonna be where the old general store was (sorry, I don't remember the name, red front, round the corner from bellefield street when going towards Joppa) ?

you know what we need in Porty: a book store ! that would be great.

Welcome, tybihan. Agree re bookshop, but unlikely, methinks.

The store you mean is Red Giant - supposed to be going to be a dental super-surgery, but still full of stock from Red Giant days!! Although the roof's been done up recently.............

I'd love a place to buy books and CDs but agree with Poppy, it's a bit unlikely.
Unless we got Oxfam Music and Book shops like the ones they have in Stockbridge.
That'd be rather nice.

I just noticed at the weekend that Klick/Munro on the High Street are closing in November.
But progress seems to be being made with the Thai take-away in the former gents clothes shop next to Acorn. That's been a lengthy refurbishment.

In a wander round the manor today, I noted several developments!

The ex-Pizza Paradise IS going to be a takeway (Cinnamon Indian Takeaway)

The old TV repair shop next to the doll's house shop is being done up - they have exposed the old tiles on the walls and in the window - was a butchers at one point judgig by the pictures on the tiles. Anyone know (a) if they are going to keep the tiles and (b) what it's going to be?

Lisa Leslie is getting a makeover, and the shop next door to same is being shopfitted apace. Good money to be made in shopfitting in Portobello just now!!

Its for Thai 2 Go, a takeaway, owned by Alan, same guy that owns Domethong in Northfield Broadway. I think its meant to be open January sometime.

"Former gents clothes" - PoP, Portly and Mr Poppy were talking about Debonair on Friday. Seems they bought their flares there!!!

And now we need a nice new bus stop to go with all the nice new shops...since the one that fell down a few months ago was in lots and lots of little pieces again today...

Wouldn't you think, that if the last one was close enough to the road to have fallen down after being hit by a bus, they might have built the replacement a bit further back?
