Hmmm...I've heard on the great grape vine that as of April 1st the community police officer no longer exists. Apparently the Chif Constable has decided to reorganise resources but I would like to know what's happening to our local community bobby...those useful offivers who know what's going on in the street and help us to deal with any problems which may arise..
Given that the Easter Holidays are only 3 - 4 weeks away i wonder who is going to help residents, shopkeepers and visitors to deal with the minority of yobs who wreak havoc in the toun?
Anyone know of anything?

Welcome to the board

The new station Inspector, Bob Wardrop, has a piece in the current issue of the Reporter on this very subject. In theory the new arrangements should hopefully mean MORE community cops on the beat. The new dedicated response teams should mean that the community guys are left to do their job, without being dragged away to deal with incidents in other areas. Incidentally, we are busy working on an online version of the Reporter and hope to let you see the results soon.

See the Community Beat Officer for Portobello finishes up this month, wonder who his replacment would be.
My team work in partnership with the Police and work closely with several CBO's (and NAU's), and I recall that recently when there was a CBO vacancy for one of the Leith beats nobody was volunteering as there is a lack of internal interest in the role and the Inspector very nearly had to just choose some poor sod to take on the post.
